Everyone forgets, the Flyers didn't trade Carter to LA. They had no control over that. I think the Flyers got solid returns for both players. - PLindbergh31
and Jake is 25, couts 21, Simmonds 26, Schenn 23 and Cousins 21 to Carter/Richards 29 and they also used a draft picks obtained to acquire Grossmann. I really think Jake is on the cusp of exploding. |

If the talent level is the same or close, wouldn't you take the bigger guy? - jmatchett383
Yeah, but I wouldn't rank a guy higher if he had a lot more penalty minutes and fighting majors. I actually might rank him lower because it shows a lack of discipline when teams can so easily take you off the ice. Especially, when you consider that these guys are the best players on their junior teams.
I feel like there are a lot more teams and fans who would rather have Lucic than Jeff Carter even though Carter is the better all around player. |

I'm not sure which one I would take, honestly. Carter can have some cold spells and Lucic can be a huge dumbass on the ice. |

If you could make Clode 6'5 and not lose a thing about him, sure, you'd do it.
But if he were 6'5, he probably wouldn't have that same chip on his shoulder, spent as much time perfecting his saucing and dangling, and probably would have just pushed his way around the ice instead of having to play it like chess. |

Both G and Voracek have game changing ability, but in different forms. G is a creative, nifty playmaker who floats around the ice and makes everyone look slow. He is also pretty fierce.
Voracek has Forsberg/Jagr like shifts where he will possess the puck and not a single player can do anything about it. That game he had a week or two ago... you saw it. Unreal. |

Agreed. If the Kings haven't won a couple of Cups no one would be lamenting the trades. If you put Simmonds and Voracek on the Kings instead of Carter and Richards I have no doubt they would have won with them as well. |

I'm not sure. It's more of a fit thing. It's not about having an All-Star team, it's about creating the correct mix. Simmonds and Voracek are good players, but they may not be the right pieces that fit the way Richards and Carter do. |

How is it a win-win? If the Flyers lose because that line scores 5 goals and they lose 5-4, you'd better not be happy and consider it a win.
Edit: I'm super grouchy today. |

I feel like that's a ideological thing. People like players they most identify with or players that play the game they like to watch. I would take Carter, because I value speed, hands and shooting. Others might like Lucic because they value physicality, strength, along with solid skill. I'm not a very violent person and have always favored being skilled to create plays vs. out muscling others to create them. That's why I like skilled players. Also, forwards over dmen all day. I think the players people like the most speak to who a person is. |

Especially in that system. Carter and Richards are without a doubt the better two way players.. That has to be taken into account.
I am very happy with the return. It makes for a great group of young players, but Richards and Carter are also very good players who played significant roles in both of those Cup wins. |

Do you think that Brayden Schenn still has another level he can reach? I'm sure his points totals will increase but will they increase enough consistently to be 60+ points a year? What about Coots? |

Lucic
.25 goals per game
.61 points per game
Carter
.40 goals per game
.73 points per game
Carter is the better defensive player. He also hasn't had the luxury of playing with Krejci for most of his career. He's normally the best player on his line.
People just want Lucic because he embodies how they want their team to win. They want to beat the other team and beat up the other team.
When looking at them both as hockey players, it's hard to argue that Lucic is a better. |

Carter is one of the most underrated pure goal scorers in the NHL. As you said, .4 goals per game which equals at least 33 goals every 82 game season in his NHL career which is 9 or 10 seasons now? Take away his rookie and sophomore year and that average jumps up likely to 40 goals a year every year. |

I'm not sure what level he'll reach. I think 22-26 goals and 50-55 points is where he'll top out.
Couturier, who knows? Has a lot to do with how he's deployed and who his linemates are. |
