I am shocked I was able to snag them honestly. - flyers4487
I drafted him at the beginning of the year in my keeper league. I went with a total youth movement. I drafted nothing but players who were first or 2nd round picks in the last few drafts, or players I thought were on the cusp.
Hertl
Pearson
Lindholm
Ghost
Forsberg
Eckblad
Nichushkin
Draisaitl
Burakovsky
Jake Allen
I already have Giroux, Steen, Buff, Yandle, Saad, Pietrangelo etc.... |

and Jake is 25, couts 21, Simmonds 26, Schenn 23 and Cousins 21 to Carter/Richards 29 and they also used a draft picks obtained to acquire Grossmann. I really think Jake is on the cusp of exploding. - nastyflyergirl

He's an elite NHL winger already. Not everyone is aware of it just yet.
They will be after this season. |

I cannot wait until Lecavalier gets back. I'm sick of looking at Chris Vandevelde and he's quickly making my all time most hated Flyer list. Get this scrub out of here! |

Lucic
.25 goals per game
.61 points per game
Carter
.40 goals per game
.73 points per game
Carter is the better defensive player. He also hasn't had the luxury of playing with Krejci for most of his career. He's normally the best player on his line.
People just want Lucic because he embodies how they want their team to win. They want to beat the other team and beat up the other team.
When looking at them both as hockey players, it's hard to argue that Lucic is a better. - PhillySportsGuy
I agree, but I think there's a certain mystique about Lucic. He is able to power his way around the ice like a bull, and can get the other team on their heels a little bit. Basically, it's like wanting Eric Lindros or Mario Lemeiux, assuming both healthy and in their primes. Lemieux was a better player, but Lindros offered a dynamic that Lemieux couldn't. |

Carter is one of the most underrated pure goal scorers in the NHL. As you said, .4 goals per game which equals at least 33 goals every 82 game season in his NHL career which is 9 or 10 seasons now? Take away his rookie and sophomore year and that average jumps up likely to 40 goals a year every year. - rangerdanger94
He's a good player. I never understood why people disliked him so much in Philly. He had his flaws and there were times where he could have been more assertive, but overall he was very good.
I must say he's a different player with the Kings though. He looks so much more comfortable than he did with the Flyers. When the Flyers tried him on the wing, he was lost. Now, he is capable of playing any forward position and excelling. |

Already? He's an AHL/NHL tweener. He's nothing on the level of Calder/Versteeg/Tibbets/Bureau/etc. He's a warm body, nothing else. Why do you hate him? |

Couts and Read combined for five SHGs last season.
Carter and Richards had two. |

I drafted him with my last pick. He was inactive at the time and had been sent down so no one paid any attention. I decided to just take a chance and stash him away. Because its a keeper league I will now have him forever. I did the same thing with Giroux in his rookie year.

i think it was his skating. He had an odd skating posture that made it look like he wasn't trying. Also, he's more remembered for some of his flaws (race down wing, fire rocket 5 feet wide, odd-man rush the other way) and his shot into Niemi's chest late in Game 6. He was never "tough enough" and "lazy" in many fans' eyes. |

Mystique is all it is though. I want the team to always make the decision based on what will make the team better. |

Not a bad idea. Just curious if you had passed up anyone else on that list to get him was all. |

I had also drafted Sam Bennett. But I had to drop him. He just had shoulder surgery and is out for months, but Yahoo refuses to put him on IR.

Much better now than when he was in Philly. I always remember a Carter that was not physical enough, floated down the wing, missed open nets. Sure he had his fair share of goals but he shot the puck quite a bit. I sure hope you get something for that. |

I think it was his personality too. Very low key. When I worked at a restaurant in Old City, he'd come in quite a bit. He was always very nice and pleasant. He was quiet though. |

Do you think that Brayden Schenn still has another level he can reach? I'm sure his points totals will increase but will they increase enough consistently to be 60+ points a year? What about Coots? - rangerdanger94
Couts absolutely has another level. Kid is 21, playing against top lines, most in defensive situations and he put up 39 points last season. This year (early I know) he is on pace for 55 points.
When he gets a more offensive role.. and steady offensive linemates, he could very well be a Patrice Bergeron level player. 60+ points while being a dominating defensive presence at center.
Schenn.. I dont know. There are times I see him play real well, and think he could be good, but now I see him more as a Kris Versteeg type player. |

Couts has flashes of greatness. He is still working on his consistancy. He'll get there. In the mean time he is still a very solid player. |

Coots is also developing an edge to his game as well. That is something I would like to see him continue to develop. He seems to have a nasty edge that he calls on sporadically. I would like to see that nasty more often. I know its there.

The one thing about Schenn that gives me pause is that he isn't great at any one thing. He isn't big enough to be a true power forward, not fast enough to be a speedster, doesn't shoot well enough to be a sniper, doesn't play defense well enough to be a shutdown guy and so forth.....
But he does all of those things well enough to have above average potential. I'm just not sure what kind of player he is supposed to be.
