The one thing about Schenn that gives me pause is that he isn't great at any one thing. He isn't big enough to be a true power forward, not fast enough to be a speedster, doesn't shoot well enough to be a sniper, doesn't play defense well enough to be a shutdown guy and so forth.....
But he does all of those things well enough to have above average potential. I'm just not sure what kind of player he is supposed to be. - MBFlyerfan
Schenn is extremely average in all facets. Agreed. |

I think it's gone. I found the one of the aftermath, with Toews sitting on the ice. Can't find the one where Coots throws him down though. |

Agreed. He's a rich man's Nodl. Nodl was truly average across the board. Schenn is more or less slightly above average in all areas but, like you said, he doesn't excel in any. |

Agreed. If the Kings haven't won a couple of Cups no one would be lamenting the trades. If you put Simmonds and Voracek on the Kings instead of Carter and Richards I have no doubt they would have won with them as well. - PLindbergh31

I cannot wait until Lecavalier gets back. I'm sick of looking at Chris Vandevelde and he's quickly making my all time most hated Flyer list. Get this scrub out of here! - SuperSchennBros

I actually think he has a pretty good shot. He's lost all confidence though. Flyers have handled him so poorly. |

Couts and Read combined for five SHGs last season.
Carter and Richards had two. - Feanor
I don't care. I thought it was obvious I was talking about Mike Richards in his career as a Flyer...alone. |

Right, a "pretty good" shot. But not good enough for me to consider him a sniper.

He does hold the NHL record for career 5-on-3 SHGs. |

Already? He's an AHL/NHL tweener. He's nothing on the level of Calder/Versteeg/Tibbets/Bureau/etc. He's a warm body, nothing else. Why do you hate him? - jmatchett383
Well lace me up then but you forgot to name Grossmann or either one of the Schenn brothers. The point is he brings nothing! |

I agree with you. I just think the Flyers have done an awful job of helping him develop his game. I don't think they ruined some superstar, but I think he'd be a much more reliable player at this point.
His development could have taken some of the burden away from Couts, which, in turn, would have allowed Couts to receive more offensive opportunities.
There are plenty of spots in this league for guys who aren't great at anything, but are good at everything. |

Win or lose tonight, I'm hoping Berube rides Emery at least heading into Thursday night's match up. Do not make a loss tonight an excuse to throw Mason to the wolves.
I'm also hoping this put the "Mason is a top ten goalie in the league" to rest. He was very good last season and I have no doubt he'll return to form this season but he has to prove it year in and year out. Emery is a very capable back up, there is no need to downplay what he can do. Emery was very good down the stretch last season. |

He brings about the same thing that Andreas Nodl, Patrick Thoresen, Steve Eminger, Josh Gratton, Jon Kalinski, Rory Fotzpatrick, Ryan Parent, Jared Ross, Ben Holmstrom, and Kevin Marshall brought. |

He's basically a one-dimensional player. He's not fast, not good defensively and has questionable hockey IQ. But he's willing to get in front of the net and make things happen.
He's a poor man's Wayne Simmonds right now, imo. |

It varies from one aspect of the game to the next. It would be something like grade B shot, B passer, B- physicality, B- skater, C+ defense, B- hands, etc. |

Yes.....I wouldn't go so far as to say they have jerked him around, but I do think it almost seems as if they aren't quite sure what to do with him.
I DO think that leaving him at wing this season despite the injury to VLC tells us that maybe they finally see what some of us also see...that his skill set is much better suited to wing.
