I'd be okay with putting Akeson out there. I feel like Berube is trying to make him something he's not. Much like VLC, you need to put him into situations where he can best use his skillset, which if mostly offensive.
When can I expect my $$? - jmatchett383
I'm going to mail you 200 pennies, which will probably cost $20 to mail. |

Can I ask what Akeson does that makes you feel he should be on PP? I mean people a little bit ago were talking about Matt Read should be on top line. Now we want him off the 2nd PP. I feel like Akeson is Jermey Lin. Played well for a little bit and now eveyone thinks he is better than what he is. - J35Bacher
Akeson does have good hands and good vision.
The PP does not demand of Akeson the things he's not great at......like skating and defending. |

I do like Umbergers size with Couturier because a lot of times they are facing the top line. Example last night. Still my ideal winger would be someone with a little more grit to the line. guys that come to mind are Macus Foligno, brad Marchand, Chris stewart, jamie mcginn, alex burmistrov maybe even a zack kassian or raffi torres or matt beleksy - J35Bacher
Raffi (frank)in Torres. Unbelievable. |

Akeson won an OHL scoring title (granted, it's juniors, and he was an overager). But he's had good numbers at every level. He's not some second stringer who went on a 1-week tear. He's not a primary scoring option, but he's a valid secondary option.
As for Read, he's struggled offensively much of the season. I never thought he should have been a top-line forward option personally. I think it's more about trying something different than about kicking a player off the unit. Can't hurt to give it a different look right now. |

That was so cold, I laughed in my office again, which means people know I'm not working again
Are you trying to get me in trouble at work? Why? What have I ever done to you

what is the story with Read? - vejim
He's had a rough start to the year. I feel like he's wearing down mentally a bit. He's been used in that 3rd line defensive role for years now. His zone starts and QoC is only getting tougher and tougher each year.
This is strictly a personal opinion of course. I have no evidence to back this up. He just doesn't have the jump he normally does.
Could just be early season struggles or maybe a lingering injury of some sort. |

It wouldn't surprise me, honestly. I've actually been impressed with Grossmann, he's actually stepped his game up the last couple...of course, could be the Hal Gill effect. |

Grossmann has been solid for the most part. Schultz has been a pleasant surprise. Only question is can he maintain it? He was signed to be the 7th dman, can he really play 70+ games? |

He can play 70 games. Playing them at the same level, probably not.
Also, I'd be a bit surprised if Ghost isn't sent down for this road trip, and 2 of Alt/Manning/Lauridsen aren't recalled.

His skill set is suited for the PP and the 2nd unit is lacking a player with his skill set. I feel it's a perfect match. I'm not saying he should be moved to the top line. I just think the 2nd unit could use a playmaker with passing ability.
Akeson is an average skater with smallish size and average defensive ability. He excels with the puck on his stick when given time and space.
Edit: I never advocated Read for the top line. I think he's fine where he is. I just don't like how that line is used and I'm not a huge fan of Umberger on that line either. |
