our second line center scored 2 goals last season - homiedclown
So, he's 50% "better" than John Scott?

well done, schultzie...
for me he's mature enough to handle what's happening in Buffalo this season...if he could go to Rochester, there really wouldn't be a problem...
Girgensons made it through alright, and I believe Samson can too - Michael Pachla
That's debatable
IMO, Girgensons should've stayed in the minors longer to work on his offense
He clearly has talent in that area,
But its hard to develop it when your team is overmatched consistently & so are you
I know he's still VERY young,
And I'm not trying to say he's a bust or anything like that...
But why does it make sense that Grigorenko (for example) needs to play in the AHL to develop his defense, but its not a good idea to do the same with Girgensons and his offense?
He could still get there...
But it worries me that he could end up being a Taylor pyatt type bc he could easily get pidgeon-holed into a defensive role
Playing in Rochester,
He could've been on the PP and gotten MUCH more offensive zone icetime
I think that would have been optimal for him to develop his offensive game
And sorry goose...
I know this is all gonna piss u off |

Good thoughts actually, I do think your argument has strong merits...we will never know what could have been...but developing skills more at a younger age before being subjected to the rigors of the NHL, especially on a disaster of a team certainly makes sense to me.
Allowing guys like him, Reinhart and Zadorov to play in the NHL so early, does that stunt their ability to realize their ceiling? Are the Sabres negatively impacting their future with this path? Questions everyone has an opinion on, but know one knows for sure.
Post more often!

So Nolan's 10 games grace period is over for the players.
What do we expect in the next 10?
More of the same, Players only meetings, grueling /punishment style practices, benching certain players (like 90% of the team)?
Sounds like a toxic atmosphere brewing.
When does the Sabres culture of premodonna's end?
And my last thought, now that we have One Buffalo....should the Sabres trade Myers for a good young QB of the future? |

I have watched him close this season, give him 2 wingers with wheels and a work ethic and I think he could be a second line center netting 60 points per season if given the right linemates

Myers to San Jose for Oakland's #1 overall pick.
In all seriousness, though, we've been accusing the Sabres of being "soft" for years now. They've rid themselves of a lot of deadweight, brought in a bunch of guys who supposedly loved to compete, and a bunch of supposed leadership to "teach these young kids the way" and still nothing changes. Perhaps we're looking at the wrong factor. Often times in business, the entire working environment is the problem. That comes from above. I'm not just talking about coaching or even the general manager. I'm talking about even above that. Perhaps Ted Black, Terry, and Kim are the ones that need to change the way they do business. Whether that's to get tougher or softer, I have no idea. |

With the way this defense is playing right now, I'm not sure they miss Alonso right now.
Next year, he's going to be an asset, but even if he does make a speedier recovery (ala Scott Chandler last year), I'd still shelf him for this season for the rust factor alone. |

I think much of the dead weight is gone as well
biggest thing now is to slot players where they belong, my guess is that will take another year or so
find that #1 left winger so moulson can drop a line
find those top 2 rw'ers so gionta can drop to the third line
address which center is going to play on the top 3 lines
figure out what to do with coho, staff, foligno, ennis, and stewart
shape the bottom 4 d men in the line up
I expect a handful of moves to upgrade the big roster and free up some spots in the 50 man roster by the 2015 draft
oh and I am over kaleta, mitchell, weber and staff |

if the last game means something, I would play him
otherwise save him for 2015
looking at the upcoming schedule, there are a few things that need to happen
1. they need to win the "easy games (browns, jets, and raiders)
2. the chiefs, fins, and packers must net them 2 wins
3. don't leave anything in the tank when they play the pats
looking at the packers schedule, I am not impressed with their wins when I compare their schedule to the bills. The high points they can score is the only thing that worries me in that game. |

3 of the 5 should be gone for next year.
My guess is Stewart and Coho are goners.

Save him regardless.
Week one in 1997 Jerry Rice blew out his ACL, rushed back, played in week 16, and broke his knee cap.
Rice was a workout warrior and so is Alonso.
Save him. |

A lot of this will happen within the organization. There may be a trade or two but for the most part those slots will be filled by players already in the organization. It may take longer than just till the 2015 draft though.

Exactly, this team still needs a player to build a franchise around. Hopefully, McDavid or Eichel are it. Once they get that player, they still need to do the building. |
