I wonder why they would want to trade him. Seems odd to me. Unless he asked for a trade. The locker room in buffalo can't be a pretty place right now. - psuhockey
It's his six season in the NHL and he's regressed from his rookie year but he's still only 24. The Sabres could still possibly get good young pieces for the future in picks or 18-20 year old prospects. Chances are Myers won't get that much better than he is now but some teams may be willing to see if they can coax the potential out of him. |

Sounds like Zach Bogosian, minus the injuries. |

Still, how many 6'8" guys with his mobility are there? Somebody will roll the dice. - Jsaquella
This.
There will be a market for Myers, without a doubt. |

Yep. Myers is signed for 5 more years, there's zero pressure to trade him for Tim Murray.
That said, if his game doesn't improve, he won't get as much as he's asking. In chatting with some friends on twitter who are Sabres fans, he's really not playing well. Far too many turnovers, he's finding himself out of position and getting to be a bit of a mess is how one put it.

I grew up in Rochester, NY and my buddies who are Sabres fans are pretty much over the idea that Myers will be a mainstay on the Buffalo blue line for the foreseeable future. Not a whole lot of love there for him these days based on his play the last few seasons |

He's regressed, but the physical gifts will still appeal to a lot of GMs |

Oh for sure. He no doubt still has value. Like you said, with his size and mobility, he still has a place somewhere in this league.
Just interesting to see the disparity between the view of the sabres fans vs fans in the rest of the league |

Well the Sabres would be wise to move him soon. I think there will be a great selloff once teams realize they have not shot at the playoffs just to improve their lottery chances. That means prices will go down. |

Exactly.
If I'm the Buffalo GM and you are calling me about Myers, I'm either asking for Couturier straight up or something like Laughton and Hagg and a 2nd. It may not be realistic, but that's what they are going to want. Don't forget, Buffalo is under no pressure whatsoever to move Myers in the first place. - BiggE
Yeah. I think Buffalo has gotten a little tired with his inconsistent play. That being said, they aren't going to just move him for anything. Whoever gets him will be banking on him finding consistency and reaching his potential though. |

I think they are really screwing this up.
Leaking the rumors of who they are asking for.
They are likely not going to get Mantha, etc and if they end up trading him for less will look really bad. |

Why not just send him back to the AHL and bring up Lauridson to sit in the press box? |

Your right but there must be a reason they have tried to move him since last season. Either he wants out or they want him out. If they are trying to hit a homerun in a trade, every year that goes by his value declines. See Luke Schenn as an example or do you think L. Schenn would still return a good young player.
Here's a good example: last year they wanted Mantha and would told no. This year they wanted Larkin and salary dump Kindl and still rejected. Is that price going up or down? |

how would you use Couts today?
try and match up against Filpula/Stamkos or play him against
Tyler Johnson/Kucherov?
another line is going to have to come up with a solid game to win |

Actually, they wanted Mantha and Nichuskin earlier in the month. So I'd say the price is pretty steady.
They want to move him the same way the Flyers want to move B. Schenn. They're fine with keeping him, but if they can get good, young value in return for an area you perceive to be a weakness (remember they have both Zadorov and Ristolainen coming up) then you move him. |

You going by Eklund? Dreger said Larkin and Kindl was the last deal rejected by the wings and Mantha was last year. Both guys are probably full of it but I trust Dreger more than Eklund. |

Cuz I suppose there is a chance Manning totally poops the bed. I think Flyers would rather test Manning out, see how he does and then send Ghost back to the A (if Manning pans out)
Seems to be just for insurance. I personally don't think Ghost has struggled as much as some have said. He has lots to work on but I feel he's held his own in limited minutes. |

Dreger reported Mantha a few weeks ago, it was shot down so Buffalo asked for Larkin. |
