how would you use Couts today?
try and match up against Filpula/Stamkos or play him against
Tyler Johnson/Kucherov?
another line is going to have to come up with a solid game to win - Marc D
I would probably use couturier against the Stamkos line if possible. |

Cuz I suppose there is a chance Manning totally poops the bed. I think Flyers would rather test Manning out, see how he does and then send Ghost back to the A (if Manning pans out)
Seems to be just for insurance. I personally don't think Ghost has struggled as much as some have said. He has lots to work on but I feel he's held his own in limited minutes. - mcefalu
He was okay with some hiccups in the Detroit game, but he was having some real issues with LA (which makes total sense). The one thing he's really struggled with was board battles, which he hasn't won a single one of. He can work on upper body strength and body positioning to correct that a la Timonen, but for right now, that's my biggest concern over his positioning and decision making. |

Agreed. I was excited to see him, but would have preferred one of Alt, Manning, or Lauridsen (in that order). |

calling up ghost after hexy beat the drum of letting the kids develop in the A was... a bit strange I thought - Marc D
Yeah. I didn't quite understand it either. He was solid in the A, but I thought there were things he clearly needed to work on.
He had a rough night against the Kings, but I think he's a better player than he's shown over the last 2 games.
Still, I would rather see him in the AHL for now.
I'm off the MOAT Float for now |

For sure, he's still lacking in board battles and clearing the crease. Other than that though, I think he's been fine for the most part. |

Is this a rule or a philosophy? - PhillySportsGuy
That is untrue. It's the rule for NHL preseason games. Per the AHL rulebooks, pp. 9-10:
"Of the 18 skaters (not counting two goaltenders) that teams may dress for a regular-season game, at least 13 must be qualified as "development players." Of those 13, 12 must have played in 260 or fewer professional games (including AHL, NHL, IHL and European elite leagues), and one must have played in 320 or fewer professional games. All calculations for development status are based on regular-season totals as of the start of the season. " |

If Ghost was a regular, 27 year old defenseman, people would be wondering why he's even in the lineup after the last game against the Kings.
I like him, but he's just not ready to handle more than 10 minutes against soft competition. The Flyers need more than that right now. |

In the wake of the San Francisco Giants third championship in 5 years, the word Dynasty is being thrown around. So my question to you guys is, what's considered a Dynasty in today's era? The San Antonio Spurs have won 5 championships in the last 15 years. The Detroit Red Wings have won three between 1997 and 2002, would you have put them in the mix of a Dynasty? I would based on their current 23 times in a row of making the playoffs and the fact that the Red Wings were virtually the same time between 1997 and 2002. The topic is being discussed on a Detroit Radio station now and what I actually believe to be shameful is the fact that they're barely bringing up the Wings in the discussion. |

No, you could technically have an AHL roster made up of players with no pro experience. The rule he was referring to was the veteran rule for NHL preseason games. |
