The first year of ELC means nothing. If he struggles like this, his next contract won't be that valuable anyway. He's got right back up after every hit he's taken. It would have been a non-issue. - buffalofan19
The only thing he could have worked on here was how to win a defensive zone faceoff.
This team is garbage. Keep him away |

What top 5 pick where a kid straight from Junior stuck around hasn't been garbage?
EDIT: Okay, Boston, Seguin and Hamilton, due to Toronto's incompetence. |

I disagree, it was only a matter of time before one of the big hits he's been taking put him on the IR. Then we completely burn the first year of his elc for nothing. He needs to get stronger he can do that anywhere. - Carubba-Kaleta
Agreed 100%.

2 sides of this coin.
Stays-Reinhart gets avg 10 min TOI, lowers confidence, trains and plays with NHL (and I use that term loosely) players. Learns a ton about the game, but just doesn't have the strength and speed to keep up yet. Built and plays like a top 6 guy, playing on the 4th line. Why bother.
Leaves-Dominates, continues to work on diet and exercise regiment that has been given to him by NHL trainers. Builds his confidence back up, has one more go at the junior level and goes to the Amerks when/if the playoffs are done for the ICE. Yeah, he misses out on more NHL experience, but he's 18 and there will be plenty of time for that in his near future.
I believe that through what I've read and listened to and watched, that he's going to be a consummate pro and has little more to go in gaining a mental maturity for the game. He clearly needs to develop physically, which has always been in his scouting reports. I'm glad he won't get jerked around like Grigorenko. Him and Armia are looking fantastic so far this season, and I wouldn't expect anything less from Reinhart next year if he lands on the Amerks. It will take time for him to build his strength and speed and I for one am totally content with his steady development. Sure, the team here is terrible and his linemates certainly don't help his cause. Training here would likely be a bit more beneficial, but why bother burning a contract for someone who really can't contribute, a top 6 guy playing on the 4th line is garbage. If we had a strong third line I'd be all for keeping him in the '06 Derek Roy spot. Might as well bring him along slowly, no hurry here. - TheSabresTaco
Someone recently had posted that Kootenay is bad, so perhaps they miss the playoffs, but my question is will games played in Rochester count in kick-starting his ELC? |

I think the season they're having is exactly why he should stay. It's a throwaway year. Being a small liability, even if he is one, really does nothing.
I just hope Grigorenko comes up now, otherwise, there's really nothing worth watching on this team. - buffalofan19
Agreed but give him a little more time to gel in Rochester.
I'm hoping we lose like 15 in a row and put ourselves 8-10 points in last, that way we can bring up McCabe, Pysyk, and Grigorenko and have something enjoyable to watch without worrying about the standings |

Well said Taco. In any other situation where we were a normal hockey team with talent and trying to win, Sam's time would be much more productive here just like your Roy reference from '06.
The only downside I see if Grigo coming here, the Sabres get better and Amerks get worse. Grigo and Armia have some nice chemistry going on there.

Keep Reinhart away from this mess, right decision was made this morning.
Before the season started I wanted Grigorenko here because he earned it, worked his butt off and performed well in camp but now I think keeping Grigs and Armia together in Rochester for the season is the right call. Recall Larsson if need be. |

I'm not sure how that works tbh. Yeah they're terrible, but who knows, it's early, he might help turn them around. |

Once a players Jr season is over the NHL team can assign him to play where they see fit. |

Theo would not see it that way and you know it. It would be a depressing 82 games for the kid between minimal ice time and twice and little to know off zone starts. |

I hope he stays at least most of the season in Rochester. Unless he starts blowing the doors off and forcing Murray to call him up, just leave him down there and let him kill it with Armia. My opinion is that Grigs is weaker mentally than Reinhart, and if Grig struggles up here, could have a very hard time putting forth the same effort as he's been doing in the Rock. I know everyone wants to see all the young talent cause it'll be some kind of spark for fans to actually want to watch a few games.. but it's already been said that even though they look great, the team wants those two guys down there for a while to keep developing. And that is 5000% ok with me. |

Oh I knew he was going back to Juniors as soon as Marchand put the puck in the net in overtime. That's just how this regime operates. Reinhart has already shown that he can learn from whatever is thrown at him. Like I said before, if the stint where to end up "ruining" him, he never had the mental makeup to succeed in this league in the first place, and no amount of time in the CHL, AHL, or NHL was going to change that. The same goes for Gringorenko. Luckily, he seems to have it as well. |

He's got one more year or Timmy's taking his belt off..
I think he means this the last chance they have at keeping him in the AHL long term before he becomes waiver eligible so why not give him lots of time there? |
