Like I said before, if the stint where to end up "ruining" him, he never had the mental makeup to succeed in this league in the first place, and no amount of time in the CHL, AHL, or NHL was going to change that. I don't disagree with you here, but I don't think he'd really ever get that chance. It looked to me throughout his time here that Nolan was just looking for the 4th line matchup and giving him the absolute bare minimum. I get protecting him but there's a fine line between that and just wasting his time.
