We added to it as it's the same 6 that play when the family gets together.
Stiff the dealer
You order your partner up, you play it alone
Added the Joker making it the top dawg in the deck, you flip it up on a deal and you call it blind. - dadeadhead
Wow. Did you guys make that rule up or did you get it from somewhere? Either way, that's awesome. |

That's ELC. I thought it was different for the waiver rules. - buffalofan19
Once he played 11 games as an 18 or 19 year old he loses two years on the 5 yrs or 160 games exemption.
Jr's ol'man is right. He's waiver eligible next year.
Grigorenko will be with the big boys regardless next yr. |

Per Cassidy:
"There’s a lot of players in the American League that can play in the National League,” he said. “But are they ready to be consistent contributors in the National League? I would be the first to tell Mikhail and maybe Joel Armia both, you’re not ready maybe right now to be a consistent contributor at that level. We’re not going to send you there, or (general manager) Tim (Murray) doesn’t want you there until you’re ready to do that. It doesn’t do any good for them to come up here and spin their tires.”
Per Murray re: Reinhart:
"He'll have to get stronger. The issue wasn't skating, or hockey sense, for me it was strength." |

Not sure really but it puts a new element into the game.
No more lay down loaners unless you have joker double bower. |

Just to be clear, if the dealer turns up the Joker, he has to pick it up and call trump? |

So the dealer is not allowed to look at his own cards then, and he can't turn it over? He essentially has to guess at trump?
I'm only asking because I want to try this. |

Yep. he gets an automatic trick for his troubles.
Reason being is the joker isn't trump prior to calling trump so how does one pick it up with no designated trump value.
You call it blind and roll with the punches. |

I actually gathered that as soon as you put the part about the "automatic point for his troubles". There would have to be some incentive not to turn it over.
Can the other three call trump first or no? |

We also make it that you have to have one in your hand to pick it up.
Ie: you flip up the jack of hearts, you can't pick it up unless you have one and the jack of diamonds isn't a heart until you pick it up. Thus meaning you can't pick it up.
Like I said same 6 play every family get together and 4 of us have been playing for 25+ years.
I was taught the game at age 5. |

nope.
Only the dealer and I meant automatic trick not point.
My uncle flipped it up 3 times last night.
2 of the times my other uncle and I didn't have the trump that was called.
1st time that any of us ever saw that. |

"You" being the dealer? Or nobody in the game can call it unless he has another heart. So, if you're the dealer, and I have Ace of Spades, Clubs, and Jack of Diamonds, and two other non-hearts, I still couldn't tell you to pick it up? |

To this day, they say if you fondly remember '99, you can hear 👻 whimper "no goal".
Then you remember 👻 aren't real.

You being the dealer. You have to have one to pick it up.
Meaning
jack of hearts up.
You have to have one of A, K, Q, 10, or 9 in your hand.
The J of diamonds or the Joker don't count as they aren't trump until trump is called. |

I got that part. What I didn't get was whether or not someone else could tell the dealer to pick it up with the hand I laid out. |

If you don't have a heart, why would you order it up? Honest question?
I don't see why not but you put yourself at a great disadvantage by doing that. I mean if you don't have one you essentially put everything on your partner. And if you order your partner up you play it alone thus you're calling trump without any.
Seems like a fast way to lose 2 points. |

I've seen someone have three non trump aces and the left Bauer, order up the right, and win. It could have been a poorly played hand, but it has happened. Obviously, the right was used on one of the aces, thus freeing up the other two, and the left won it.
Of course, with the joker involved, it changes everything. |

I don't see why not but chances are you're going to put the dealer 2 suited thus making 2 of the aces useless.
Again just an IMO. |

I know the money aspect of re-entry waivers is gone, but are there ANY kind of waivers to call someone up from the AHL anymore? |
