Great game. Coaches might not like fire wagon hockey but the third period was huge entertainment.
Thought Gryba was solid, especially on the PK, need a few Dmen to step up and take on some of the load.
Karlsson played over 30 minutes last night. Just way too much playing time. But, the longer the game went the stronger his game became. Karlsson is a phenomenal athlete, but he needs some help, hope Methot will be the answer. |

that was a fun game to watch.
thought karlsson was AWFUL for about the first 25-30 mins of that game, but was just the opposite in the 2nd half. much stronger at both ends of the ice. saw maclean chewing him out a bit on the bench, must have woken him up a bit.
that kid line was ridiculous. i LOVED that they got more 5v5 time (atleast it seemed like they did, didn't acutally look up the TOI stats) then the smith/legwand/neil line. if maclean doesn't roll with that line the next few games, he should get canned..........they were easily the best 5v5 line, seemed to make somethign happen every time they were on the ice.
cowen looked pretty good, 2 decent games in a row. hopefully he keeps it up. |

there's no doubt that the hawks have the better top end talent, but you could make a pretty convincing argument that beyond your top 5-6 players, ottawa actually has more depth. add to that the fact that we have better goaltending (even when crawford is healthy), and the statement isn't that far fetched.
it seems pretty clear early in this season, that the hawks aren't the unbeatable powerhouse they've been in years past. the cap mess that your GM has created has seriously depleted the depth of your team.

I like watching the SENS vs an elite team, it reminds me how far we are from being a contender. The possession of puck, talent and synchronization of plays for the Hawks is amazing, and I am sure they had an ok game. The SENS are good, but we got the chance to compare and there is still work to do and players to add.
We're getting there...2 or 3 years and we should be in the mix |

I guess tongue in cheek doesn't translate to those who aren't reading it properly. I do like allot of your kids and hopefully they develop to ensure you keep the Leafs in your rearview mirror. |

Depth was the difference for the Hawks in 2010 and 13. But the cap hell was well worth 2 Cups I think. |

As you should ... but just make sure you are always in front of them. Nothing is more irritating than listening to Leaf fans when the team wins 2 in a row or is higher in the standings than the Sens or Habs. |

no doubt.....i wasn't trying to trash talk your team. they're still great, but i think because of the cap situation, the teams inability to load up in their bottom six and bottom pair, like in years past, will start to get exposed. |

Wonder where all the people saying Zibby should be in the press box for a game or two are now? He hasn't had a phenomenal start to the year, but it hasn't been abysmal either. He's been one of our better face off men and last night really took the advice from his coaches to shoot more. It certainly paid off. I am not sure he will be an elite centreman, but certainly can be a good 2nd line centre guy.
MacArthur has been a beast the last few games. I'd say almost playing better than last season. Seems to be willing to go to dirty areas more than before. No doubt the Mac-Turris-Ryan line is the top one. They just need support from other lines to be effective or it's an easy game for the opposing team.
I found the kid line alright. I am not doing back flips about it like the everyone else. I really want to see Stone play with Zibby and/or Chaisson more often. I like Hoffman's speed and Lazar's overall play, but Stone really has an elite level of offensive IQ. I really want to see him get more minutes. However, the line was fun to watch.
The negatives for the team are the usual pundits. Not worth beating into the ground. |

Very true.
Well, Neil was frustrating as ever. The defence was a mess again. As much as I usually drive Gryba into the ground, he was probably our most competent d-man in our own zone last night. Methot is really being missed. I hope he gets paired with Karlsson when he returns. Cowen still isn't the man for that job. |

The Boston game is going to be great, is there a transfer of power in the east or are the big bad Bruins still the team to beat. biggest game of the season go Ottawa without a doubt and will be the 10th game of the season. 6-2-2 looks a lot better then 5-3-2.
Happy Zibby scored, pesky, but he was invisible most of the game.
Karlsson cannot defend anyone 1 on 1, he is so lackadaisical in his zone it makes you wonder about 1. His compete level 2. His hockey sense without the puck.
Win agains the Bruins and the Sens are for real, lose and we are just another bubble team |

I think John Muckler was going senile in his final years as the GM for the Sens. Imagine what Hossa & Chara could've done for this team. A lot more than Redden & Heatley. - Erik6Karlsson5

Hindsight being 20/20, but Heatly had 4 pretty good years in Ottawa, and 3 spectacular years. Longevity is tough to predict.
And in fairness to Muckler, he did what he could to keep both Redden & Chara, Redden wanted to stay, Chara wanted to leave. It wasn't him choosing Redden over Chara. |

Caught the third and enjoyed it immensely. Shame we didn't manage the win, but as Jared said we got a point and 2 went West.
- what's with that lame-looking PP drop-pass break-out play? that got old fast and i felt strangely embarrassed every time they used it. if they keep that up, someone is going to grab the puck and beat Turris for a breakaway...
- Hoffman is great - that possession play where he skated all over the place and kept getting the puck back was fun to watch. shame he didn't get the finish from his shot.
- where the flock is Methot already? |

Heatley had two 50 goal seasons in Ottawa, just saying. |

That is not just what I don't like about the PP...I don't like the way they place themselves and barely move when up a man...The 3 PPs in a row in the 3rd was easy for the Hawks to counter as the Sens were so predictable on their PP! They need to try different things and keep their feet moving! It was the same thing over and over with Karlsson not moving and passing to Turris who's also not moving and then one of them tries the very predictable one-timer! The only thing that will make you score is a deflection...IF it even gets near the net... |
