For a statistical comparison, through nine games, Draisatl had a goal and two assists averaging over 13 minutes per game and Burakowsky has two goals and six assists averaging 14 minutes per game as the Capitals #2 center. Ekblad is averaging nearly 22 minutes of ice-time per game on the Cats defense. He's playing second-pairing minutes while being one of the anchors on the penalty kill unit. He has two assists.
The complaining Buffalo fan in me wants to say that we screwed up and took the weakest kid in the pool.
The sensible side of me says that Sam would look much better on a better team. Also that todays reality is not forever. It will progress and change. |

The complaining fan in me wants to make a case why he should be here, but it looks like the information coming out is that Sam took it well. I think all parties are frustrated, but they gave him everything he needs to work out. They told him what he needs to do on his own and get away from the team a few days a week to work out and get stronger. That's going to benefit this team a lot more in the future. |

Not going to lie. (this is just my opinion) I didnt like the reinhart pick. I did not expect him to stand out or start lighting up the score board. Mainly because he is not that type of player. He doesnt have the dynamic goal scoring ability or physical play/frame or skating skills that would make him stand out in any way. I definitly saw those smart plays and some flashes that a top pick would have though. Im going to save my judgment until he makes it here full time but this is pretty much exactly what i expected. Hes going to be a great complimentary piece to this team down the line but im not expecting a superstar |

Yeah I feel you. This draft wasn't rated high and Sam wasn't touted to be a golden god and he certainly doesn't look like one. I'm thinking he will be a Derek Roy but with a better attitude. I know fans wont like that idea but its reality. |

Right. And to be completely honest I dont know if I would have picked anyone else at 2. I really liked what bennett and draisaitl brought to the table and I was completely torn on who I liked more but at the end of the day it would have been tough to pass on reinhart. Derek roy was a bit more of a spark plug type player which I dont see in reinhart. |

Nolan is the coach. That's sort of the problem. But if he is the coach to land us McDavid because he is that bad that is awesome.
How does the #2 pick in the draft not see any pp time in 10 games on a team that had not scored a pp goal. Not saying he is great but its worth several looks. The best thing for him is go back to juniors not for hockey just to get away from the lack of effort. First time I have ever heard a coach saying I liked our compete getting outshot 31-14... |

I agree too. I also liked Draisaitl a lot but I think at #2 you had to take Sam. Derek also transitioned away from being a spark plug guy over the years. |

Its been concluded Nolan is not the coach of the future. That's only one example of strange things that have been seen. Mike Weber being another one.
If/when we get Mceichel we should erect a statue of Weber in front of the arena. |

I agree. He had a good run once. With a bad ass team and the greatest goalie one could want. Torey Mitchell being another. Lets get McDavid.... |

In his prime you are going to look at the stat sheet and wonder how he has 65-75 points. He is not a guy that will take over and dominate a game. However he will make his line mates better players, and that's pretty much a guarantee |

really liked murray's emotional detachment..."it has to be the decision that’s right for the organization and him. It can’t be the right decision for me.”

Yes I agree he will be a great complimentary piece and a nice player for us. Just sorta wish we could have gotten more for the 2nd overall pick. But again I really should save my judgement until hes here for good. |

Well in, Pach.
I smell a trade coming for the wing. Don't know why.
(Actually, it's because I'd like to see room open up for Armia and Grigs to move up together). |

Derek Roy, really! The kid was the top forward taken in his draft class. I agree it was not the most talented group, but Derek Roy is NOT in the same talent class as a top pick, come on now. Let him tear up the WHL and WJC and come back stronger and more prepared....Derek Roy, lol! |

maybe...am of the opinion we'll be riding this out for most of the season, though...armia and Grigorenko are having a lot of fun developing chemistry in a winning environment |

Yea, I think we found a good guy to lead this rebuild in Murray. he won't be perfect, but it seems the direction is clear |

In all reality, he could end up our 3rd line center.
Grigorenko looks like a stud tright now.
