I really liked Berube last year.

He's gone full Jekyll and Hyde on me this year. Even his post game last night night was maddening. Very Torts like.

I had an open mind last season, but by the end of the year, I felt they were winning in spit of him, rather than because of him.

I'm not a fan. I don't like the way he utilizes his roster, don't like his line juggling and don't care for his bias for veterans, size and grit over young, speedy and skilled.

A guy like Rinaldo can make mistake after mistake, and be totally ineffective, yet stays in lineup. A guy like Akeson gets buried for whatever reason. A guy like VandeVelde comes in and does little, but gets shifts with the top line.

Same here. I dont know what options they would for an in-season change but I'm not expecting him to be here next season. Pounding a round peg into a square hole got Lavi canned and I'm starting to see the same sort of thing with Berube.

No idea.

I'm not absolving all blame from the players, either. I just think they could be put in much better situations by the coach. Even with Mike Babcock or Dave Tippett, this is a bubble team, IMO. There's a lot of guys who have been too inconsistent over their careers or who are too limited to really say otherwise.

I wouldn't have a problem with that as an interim. A lot of our forwards could use the Terry Murray team D refresher anyway. He strikes me as a guy that would reward our good defensive forwards as well.

Didn't have much of a choice, he didn't put much of the team together........his hands are a bit tied in changing over fast.

Oh, I agree with you. I'm just trying to avoid some kind of inane complaining about only blaming the coach. I expected a down year or maybe two as they re-tool and Hextall's plan takes shape.
