Myers again I see.................. if by some chance that deal happens it looks like we would have to take a bad contract back if you look at the payroll of the Stars. - SABRES 89
"This poster understands.
Myers is not in fact, on the trade block. The Sabres management team is listening to offers that come to them, they are not seeking offers. And as was stated by the managerial head of that team, Tim Murray, it would have to be an offer that knocks his socks off.
Believe me when I tell you, Myers will not be moved for anything short of a VN type player in return. "
This is from a poster in EK's thread. He's the same guy that called a trade last year on here I believe. |

I already mentioned before Myers isn't on the block and Murray is not making calls to move him, but other GM's are calling. |

Him playing with the talent around him that he does will not equate well here.
I would love it if we get some more of these kids up and going here though. |

In 2 years skating with McDavid, Grigorenko or Reinhart, the talent will be here for him to produce.
I still wouldn't do it. If we plan on being a playoff team anytime soon Myers should stay. He has more than held his own to start this season |

I would agree.
We have so many D prospects but not a lot that have proven they can contend on a top pairing every time AND be our biggest minutes eater. Myers is, I believe, 9th best in all of hockey in TOI/GP. While Gorges leads the entire NHL in blocked shots by a margin of 14.
I love guys like Risto, Zads, Pysyk, and McCabe but our 2nd and 3rd pairings are so awful that breaking up Gorges/Myers seems ludicrous. We have some top end talent up front already... I don't know if Nichuskin has a much higher level of potential than does Grigo or Armia... let alone Reinhart or McEichel. |

But it would help the tank and getting McDavid is all that matters.

It makes them worse this year. Gets me McDavid. then all is good. Nobody on this roster matters. Lets get McDavid |

I don't think Myers is actually going to be traded. There isn't a deal I can think of, that is plausible anyway, that would warrant it. |

Not really though. As the Pens have found out, you need more than just Sidney Corsby/Evgeni Malkin
You need a competent team around McDavid. Taking Myers away is a huge hit to the blue line. You would all of McCabe, Risto, Zads and Pysyk to pan out to have a formidable top 6 |

But what if Meyers doesn't get any better than he is now ? That's still not helping our defense. |

But then, what if our defense is absolutely worthless... Then what? are we trying to trade for Myers or someone like him in 2 years?
I honestly do not think trading Myers makes a difference in getting McDavid. Just put Benoit on the ice, and we are all set. |

He seems to be getting better in my opinion. He's not a defensive liability in most games that I have watched/listened to. He's not making stupid plays or having 4-5 pucks go off him for goals this season. If he starts producing offensively, then why would we want to get rid of him? |

If his play can be consistently good then I say keep him. |

I don't know of you noticed that Myers et al got trapped on the ice for over two minutes on one goal and again for a very long time in OT.
This is one reason ice time is high.
I'll say it again, while he is a good player, with all the PP time he has, one assist for the year does not an All Star make. |

They should be playing Zadorov more as trade bait.
I don't want to see the guy go. But if teams need D, and he wants to play in the NHL, why not?
We got plenty of other prospects behind him... |

The other reason is because he is put on the ice in every important situation in every game.
He has more shifts than any other Sabre, not just more ice time
As far as producing offensively, the same can be said for every single player. This team is a no mans land for good hockey players.
The notion he has stopped improving on a team this bad is just plain wrong. |

You are saying he is above average.
Then, he should produce accordingly.
He should be one of the guys breaking out of the funk they are in.
I like him but he is not elite by a long shot. |

He's not a forward. You are right, he is not elite by any stretch. However not one player on this team is or will be. Not with the way we are currently constructed.
People are losing their minds over Girgensons. The guy has 2 freaking goals. |
