So Don Cherry is the best hockey analyst? - Nucker101
Tony Gallagher can be measurably confirmed as the greatest hockey mind alive. Measure the dust content and you will find a direct correlation with hockey wisdom |

This is why I have such a huge issue with the suspension. The league had an opportunity to mitigate any future retaliation by levying a correct length of suspension for a repeat offender and this incident becomes a non issue. Instead the league is more interested in creating rivalries and stories at the expense of the player safety. I keep thinking about the Moore incident and wonder if the league had just stepped in and suspended Moore for 5 games for the Knee on Knee collision and there would have been no need for vigilante justice.
I wonder if there are stats that shows the suspension and the team the foul was committed against. For example if the teams are in the same division, conference the suspensions are always less then if they are cross conference. This instantly creates the hatred and rivalries between the teams to sell more tickets and get more TV viewership. - Linden_4_Capt
The league really has to figure out where it stands on hitting and high hits around the head and blind side hits.
They are worrying too much about intent. I don't want to take hitting out of hockey but players and the league have to agree on the purpose of hitting and go from there. Trying to demolish guys is nice for the highlight package but not good for the health of players.
The league has to rethink late hits - and what it means to finish checks.
There is change coming, hope they don't mess up the game. |

Nope Glen Healy because he played hockey and knows that goalies playing back to back games have no correlation to losses. |

An even better example! Gallagher for Canucks GM. Then bring Quinn back as HC. |

I think that we can all agree that the best analysts are based in Toronto. |

I'd like to see more outta him, he's not exactly "lighting it up" this year…his numbers are ok but he can be better. |

Oh okay, I hadn't heard anything this year but in the past he has been mentioned in pretty high regard. We could use a center with 1st line upside |

T-Birds don't exactly have the best team this year, but he can be better.
Nick Merkley is a similar type player. |

I believe the changes will happen and the league will revise the rules to make the game safer yet still keep some of the original values of the game. What wont change is the spin the wheel suspensions. Look at Burros suspension and tell me if it was against Edm or Cal the suspension would still have been 3 games? I would wager it would have been 1 game suspension. It infuriates the fans players media and creates the hype and rivalry. Better story to sell. How many of us were up in arms about the suspension that Keith got for the flying elbow and were really looking forward to playing Chicago again. This method of creating the rivalries at the expense of player safety will not end well. Some meathead one day with Marty McSorley someone in retaliation and by then it would be too late. |

I'm not against trading Matthias or moving him to wing and trading Hansen if Horvat is sticking around for the full season. - Nucker101
I'd like to see what Vey can do playing wing with Bonino and Higgins. Keep the Matthias, Richardson, Kassian line together, and have Dorsett, Horvat and Hansen playing on the forth line. |

Too bad it would only be for 1 game until Burrows is back.
To be honest, I am hoping we are sellers at tdl, even if we are still in the race, and see a Jensen, Bonino, Vey line. Not sure about grit and playing in the dirty areas but it could be interesting. (not Tuesday yet ) |

So much splitting hairs and a sense that one thing is worse than another.
It has to come to a point where there is some sort of formula that is used to determine the penalty.
I kind of feel the Ference hit was more premeditated than the Burrows hit, but it is just hard to quantify or compare. But having past suspensions seemed to have no bearing on the suspension. And why should it? Should he know better? Did it happen so quick that he didn't have the time to consider all options? He would take it back if he could? He is not that type of player. Shouldn't look at his past.
There has to be a better way to determine the suspension but at least with the leagues little explanations on many of the suspensions there is some insight into the process. |
