Because schenn-VL-Simmonds has been a disaster in the past
- PhillySportsGuy

Stop living in the past.

The politics of failure have failed. We need to make them work again.

I say, we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

Live hockey is great. The problem is the product at any level as we both agree.

We moved to and from Berks County rather suddenly but kept the Royals season tix as we enjoyed the friends me we made there and the experience. But I am having the same type of problem with the coaches system there and the fact they dont have a playmaking center, but have a lot of finishers and dunce playmaking not getting them puck with any deception or creativity. And at that level, Derek Mathers needs to be down there instead of the AHL keeping the $500-$600 a week goons off the skilled players. And Maxim LaMarche and Brett Flemming need to be down there as much as possible. Some teams are fielding mostly AHL players on assignment with 2 affiliations, dont ask me how the cap gets circumvented

However in the scheme of things, even though it takes the same amount of time to get to the arena in South Philly as it does to Reading, the amount of peripheral costs adds up just like any event.
Tolls, fuel ( 120 mile round trip), parking though cheap by city standards.

Like I said in an email to their team president, I dont have to drive 120 miles and spend all this money to be miserable. I know a lot of people who will make me unhappy for free. The only way you can cast any weight with teams is to get people to cancel their tickets and do it in numbers that get noticed.

- Steelmanpa

when you do that at the minor league level, the team folds.

i gave up my flyers tickets because the amount of time and money spent for average entertainment at best just wasn't worth it to me any more. i'd rather stay home in my own controlled enivornment and watch on tv now. generally speaking. and now that i live in the middle of the desert it's not an option anyway. the minor team here, the scorpions, folded awhile back. i guess i could watch the unm club team.

Per Carchidi, Berube thinks that Simmonds, Umberger and Lecavalier can create "lots of" O-zone cycles because of their size.

They rarely have the puck, but they're gonna cycle

- Jsaquella

We need to get a line of Ben Eager - Shawn Thorton - Jon Scott. No one will be able to knock them off the puck. Cycle of Terror.

For those of you wondering what will happen with Colaiacovo when Amac and Coburn return. He is signed to a 2-way deal and is waiver exempt. Either he gets sent down or Schultz is scratched or Schenn gets dealt. I cant see any other possibilities.

He's not waiver exempt. Two way contracts have nothing to do with waivers outside of NHL 15. Manning will probably get sent down and they will carry 8 D

Berube's delusions aside, I do prefer that line to reuniting 10 and 40.

I was listening to a Ken Hitchcock press conference yesterday on NHL Network Radio on Sirius. Most of it was routine updates on the Blues but Hitch said something quite interesting about special teams play.

He said that he benchmarks outstanding special teams play in today's NHL as a score of 105 (combined power play and penalty killing success percentages, in any combination).

Here's a look at the Flyers' special teams scores in recent years:

2011-12: 101.5 (19.7% PP, 81.1% PK)
2012-13: 107.5 -- tops in the NHL (21.6% PP, 85.9% PK)
2013-14: 104.5 (19.7% PP, 84.8% PK)
2014-15 to date: 95.3 (19.5 on power play, 75.8 on PK)

- bmeltzer

That's a nice look to see who's doing well in-season, but special team %'s are heavily influenced by randomness from year-to-year.

Are those Whalers jerseys white with Black and gold? I've never seen those ones before. I thought they always had the green with blue.

2-way deals are only waiver exempt in videogames. I would expect Manning to be back with the Phantoms in time for their next game barring any more injuries on D.

Lecavalier healed, so Berube needed to juggle 3 of his 4 lines.
- Jsaquella

Should they have scratched Lecavalier?

Waivers are based on years of service, and games played. One way or two way determines how a player is paid. On a one way deal, a player receives the same salary whether he is in the NHL or AHL. On a two way deal, a player has one salary for the NHL, and a different lower salary for the AHL.
