Missed the game but seems like Voracek has really grown into a star.
Wasn't so sure when he first came over from Columbus, as he didn't always seem invested as a player there but he has come a long way.
Great to see.
MDZ seems to be improving as well, just pray they calm their tits before giving him a huge extension. - flyer_nutter
I always thought he was strong on the puck but not a great finisher. Seems like he's gotten a lot better at getting the biscuit in the basket |

Was not impressed with that line. They weren't awful, but they were that good either. - Jsaquella
None of the other lines other then the Voracek line generated a lot of shots on net. Lecavalier played a solid all around game. Skated well, and made some nice defensive plays. The offense will come. |

Have to admit Colaiacovo didn't look too bad for his first game.
As a team it did concern me that we were giving up 36 shots to Edmonton. Mason played well. Umberger and Read..... Seem lost |

People are blaming Grossmann for the pinch on the RNH goal. But he's just doing what he's supposed to be doing. His pinch stopped the breakout, and Rinaldo was back properly on the back check. All part of systems play. Rinaldo stumbled for a second and RNH went by him. Credit talent and blinding speed by RNH for that goal. 9 times out 10, with the way the Flyers played it, that play goes no where. |

I thought Read had one of his better games last night. He was more involved offensively.
I was also concerned that the Flyers sat back too much and took their foot off the gas. |

It seems they tend to take their foot off the gas when they have a comfortable lead ( see Montreal game)
I really don't think any lead is comfortable with this team. Having no PP's didn't help either.

I thought Grossman played well last night. Played a solid physical game in his own end and was moving his feet. I was wondering were the D was on the RNH goal. |

Well it wasn't anyhere near the level of the Montreal game. In that game they just stood around and watched in the 3rd period.

Streit had to stay in his lane because he had an Oiler coming down the other side, if he leaves to check RNH, that would be a 2 on 1. Once Rinaldo stumbled and RNH blew by him, just too much speed for Streit to get to him in time.

Voracek is currently on pace for 34 goals and 89 assists for a 123 point season. Probably not going to keep that pace up, but he is on fire. |

Agreed, they were the Flyers weakest line by far.

I thought VL did well but the line as whole just doesn't seem right. Simmonds is a top 6 guy and should not be on that line |

It's the 2nd line. I thought the line played a decent game. Would like to see more shots generated. But the same could be said for every line last night. |

The play BSchenn made to set up his brother for the insurance goal was fantastic. Luke's goal was nice, but the plays he made in his own zone that led to the Bellemare goal were even better.

Simmonds had the most ES ice time of any forward last night, and his line with Vinny and Umberger generated plenty of shots and pressure. Berube is doing the right thing by keeping 10 and 40 apart. |

I agree, B Schenn has been playing solid hockey. But Schenn and Lecavalier played together with Simmonds for a number of shifts in last night's game. |

Exactly. I think if Rinaldo kept his feet moving he might have disrupted it even more but at the blue line I think he went for a stick check. Either way you are right on IMO on the play. |

Man, and we thought the Flyers team defense was bad. The Oilers are putrid. All kinds of blunders last night. For all the talent that team has (at least up front) they are dismal to watch. |

That backend is awful. That's why if Edmonton gets a top 2 draft pick they can't waste it on McDavid or Eichel. Drafting more forwards does nothing for them. |

When Berube shortened his bench they got a couple of minutes together, which is fine. I just don't like them being on a regular line together. |

I wouldn't pass up McDavid or Eichel. I would turn around and trade Draisaitl, RNH, Yakupov and/or Eberle after taking McDavid or Eichel.
One of the sadder things for them is that even their forwards haven't been as good as projected thus far. Yakupov is still young but he looks lost. RNH has got the skills but has yet to really put anything together. Hall is legit though and Eberle will give you 60 points but minimal defense. They're all still young though so there is plenty of time for them. |
