This is probably crazy talk, and no way it will happen, but I'd try Akeson on the top line. The guy's main strength is his offensive play. Granted, all 3 are better playmakers than goal-scorers, but they're all able to fill the back of the net to an extent.

Matt Read maybe but somehow I think he stays with #14.

I'd really like to see Laughton brought up to play 4th line center and PEB moved to the 1st line LW. Doubt they move Laughton up though.

Agree about everything else you said too. I really thought Voracek was their best skater in the playoff series vs NY last spring and glad he is off to a fast start.

He really wants the puck and is playing well all over the ice.

I think the complaints are more about why the former GM felt the need to pay big money and lots of years to certain guys when they can get similar defensive play or better from less expensive options on the market.

Not to start a fight, but are you not counting Timonen/Pronger because they were more well-rounded than Joni? I'd say they're just as good, if not better.
