I think the complaints are more about why the former GM felt the need to pay big money and lots of years to certain guys when they can get similar defensive play or better from less expensive options on the market. - PhillySportsGuy

Not to start a fight, but are you not counting Timonen/Pronger because they were more well-rounded than Joni? I'd say they're just as good, if not better. - jmatchett383
I think he's referring to a guy being able to jump up into the play. Timonen and Pronger could pass the puck and trigger a break, but they didn't skate like Del Zotto. In no way am I saying Del Zotto is even close to as good as the other two. |

Yeah, MDZ can pretty much be a one-man breakout, like Ministick. |

What order will the top 5 goal scorers be at the end of the season?
Current standings:
Perry
Nash
Taransenko
Kunitz
Stamkos
My guess:
Perry
Ovechkin
Stamkos
Seguin
Kessel |

Probably because there wasn't less expensive options available at the time.

I think Crosby might be up there in the high 30s low 40s. Maybe Kessel finally breaks 40?

MDZ will make some mistakes, like his telegraphed pass to Giroux last night that resulted in an odd man rush going back the other way, but it seems like he's trying his best out there on every shift. |

With all the complaints of how much they have spent on the dmen, gotta love the bang they are getting for their bucks so far on Schultz and MDZ. Really hoping MDZ isn't fools gold and he is finding his game again.
and what can be said about Jake....the kid is really breaking out. If he keeps this up it he is going to cost them a pretty penny to keep him here - nastyflyergirl
Didn't realize Jake was a UFA after next season. Yup, he's going to cost a fortune. He's earning it though. He's been incredible. |

They haven't had this good of a pure transition dman since Pitkanen... dude is masterful pushing play up the ice. - Tomahawk
That's somewhat of an exaggeration. Del Zotto is playing very well, and adds an element to the Flyers defense that they really need. But defenseman like Doughty and Keithy are masterful at controlling and pushing play. I wouldn't put Del Zotto in that class. |

Is there any chance Raffl can just have a bruise and be day to day? I'm guessing of course there can't. |

Interesting. He looked like he was a step behind the play for much of the night. Lecavalier seemed to have some jump. |

May be pushing $6.5M - $7M. But the Flyers should do whatever they have to do to keep him, whether it be trading one or more of the veteran D or a forward like Read or Umberger. |

Yes, he'll be diagnosed with a bruise, day-to-day. Then he'll miss 3 games. Then he'll be out 4-6 weeks. |

To be fair, even if you want to use Corsi, other then the top line, there were so few Corsi events for the other lines to show anything of significance. |
