I wasn't able to throw many head shots. Had to use my positioning and low center of gravity to take guys off the puck. Loved defending odd-man rushes and never had a problem stepping in front of a shot. But I was never fast, and was far from a superior puck mover. - jmatchett383

Rather than use VandeVelde, I'd like to see Bellemare at LW on Giroux's line and have Laughton recalled to center L4 - Jsaquella

Berube's act is wearing thin on me already. It is obvious that Akeson should be the guy who takes Raffl's place. It is a win win. It helps Akeson find his game, and it keeps a level of skill on the top line that you wont get with VDV.
It has nothing to do with rewarding a player or not rewarding a player for poor play. It has to do with what is best for the team.
I'm beginning to think more and more that Berube has an arrogance about him that I didn't know he had. - MBFlyerfan

When did Akeson become the great white hope? He wasn't even a minor league star and now he is the savior for the first line Can we move on from Akeson. He is just not that good. - J35Bacher
well, when the other alternative is Vdv, you really cant see why people are clamoring for someone who may be far from a sure thing, but at least has shown puck/passing skills in his limited time? |

He's much more skilled than Velveeta, and maybe, just maybe, he could help the pathetic 2nd pp unit |

Is THIS what you have gotten out of this conversation?
Not, Akeson would be a better fit for the top line with Raffl out than VDV?
You somehow read it as we are calling Akeson the great white hope?
I got nothing.... |

easy there Hal Gill - stayinthefnnet
If only I was 6'7" I could have actually done something. My relatively short reach and lack of footspeed hurt me. I got by for years because, frankly, I was smarter than a lot of players. As time went on, the other players caught up and my skill set because an issue. |

No he's not, but he's a better fit for that line than VandeVelde.

In all honesty I could really don't care too much about the 2nd unit. Our first unit sees about 1:40 on the PP so as much as I want the 2nd unti to be better they only see about 20 seconds.
I am ok if you want Bellemare on the 1st line wing but Akeson is not the answer. And Vandervelde has done everything asked of him so I am ok with him oin the top line. He will do the dirty work for that line. |

yeah. i had that issue with basketball and baseball. i could throw fairly hard for like a 7th grader. but then the damn kids kept adding mphs to theirs and mine must have gotten lost in genetics or something.
same with basketball. once they told me your barely 6 foot self is actually short for a guard, i harrumphed away. the nerve. |

oh yeah. thats a good one.
that might actually be the case. he did get a brinksload of money from them. but he did actually have a few years where he played.
i think that would be a close mathematical call. good name drop. |
