Use Akeson on offensive zone face-offs and VDV on defensive zone face-offs. I wouldn't mind that at all. If they move the puck up ice. Akeson can jump on for VDV too.

I would think the team would want G and Jake to take some shifts at practice with Akeson if they were going to go that route.

Agreed. If he needs to be shielded this much, he has to put up 30+ goals and 60+ points to be worth it.

How do you come to that conclusion? There's more then enough ice time to go around to use Lecavalier in offensive situations. And zone starts will only account for maybe a third, or at best, half of his shift totals.

I kind of like this idea. Just have 19 players on the ice/bench, and keep said gorilla chained up in the locker room. If we need to protect a lead late in a game, pull all of the players away from the ice surface, and just push the gorilla out there. I doubt the other team would put any of their skaters on the ice. I mean, it's a (frank)ing gorilla.

He'd probably play for league minimum.
