From what I've been reading on this forum today sounds like a lot of people think Akeson is the 2nd coming of Briere. Give it a rest. The kid isnt that good. He had a couple nice plays in the playoffs. Thats it. - GOA88
I've been one of his biggest proponents, but even I don't think he's a future star in the NHL. What I do beleive is that if he gets a regular spot on a scoring line with talented mates, and some pp time, he has the potential to put up significant points, something like 50-60+ or so at his peak...but that's not going to happen playing <8 mins/gm with his passes landing on the stick of the likes of dullshooter Zac Rinaldo. |

I do. He has the hands of Briere and the vision of Forsberg. Its unbelievable. You should see him light it up in the AHL. |

Here is the discrepancy. He is capable of playing the way he played against the Rangers. He showed that in a playoff setting. That's not the problem. The problem is that he simply hasn't played to that level this year. He has not battled, he has not skated well enough, and has not competed well enough. If he raises his game, and he gets a chance tonight, he might see more icetime. Hell if he comes out playing well tonight, he might see a shift or two with Giroux. I hope he sees some second unit PP time. - MJL
This seems to be a co-opt of Berube's opinion...and I disagree...I've seen him battle hard, be physical (as much as he can) and be competitive and make less mistakes than the likes of CV and BJ, yet JA is the one who gets singled out and demoted, while the others are promoted. That's the discrepancy I see. |

Even with PED's he couldnt make a difference. That must really disappoint his parents. |

If the skill can't produce enough to offset the lack of those other qualities, then it won't stay in the lineup. I think he's actually prefer size, physicality, skating, and skill over just skill. - MJL
I hear it said, but from what I've seen, I personally don't think Akeson is so egregiously deficient in those other areas that his even his high level of skill (and production) wouldn't be enough to earn his keep. I think that's a bit of a red herring. I see him battling, trying to be being physical, skating back to defend, as has been asked etc. Obviously, Berube and you have an opinon that differs from mine. |

I think this thread needs a culture change - PhillySportsGuy
http://www.sportsbusiness...ference/John-Collins.aspx
the last part says this, which makes me (frank)ing sick and infuriates me:
ADVERTISING OUTLOOK: Collins said that jersey sponsorship is both “coming and happening,” and noted that jersey branding by manufacturers is already a form of jersey sponsorship. He also noted that the league is continuing to test digital replacement technology for board advertisements, as written about in this week’s SportsBusiness Journal. |
