I've been one of his biggest proponents, but even I don't think he's a future star in the NHL. What I do beleive is that if he gets a regular spot on a scoring line with talented mates, and some pp time, he has the potential to put up significant points, something like 50-60+ or so at his peak...but that's not going to happen playing <8 mins/gm with his passes landing on the stick of the likes of dullshooter Zac Rinaldo.

60+ points is first line Wing territory. There were only 26 wingers in the entire NHL last year who scored 60 or more points. If you think Akeson has that kind of potential, that's a gross exaggeration of his potential. It's questionable if Akeson is even going to remain a full time NHL player at any level of play. Let alone put up 60 points. And it's not what happens when Akeson has the puck on his stick that is the issue. A coach can see if a good pass or setup is made, even if the recipient of the pass doesn't finish. It's what happens when he doesn't have the puck. As he is only going to have the puck on his stick, for a small fraction of the game.

Here's another thing I know. Zac Rinaldo may not be the most talented player, or the smartest player around. But if Jason Akeson played with the heart and intensity that Rinaldo plays with, he'll be a much better player, and he may not be scratched.

Flyers should come out pissed off at themselves for last Saturday's performance. They've gotta get to Luongo early!

I've gotta tell you, the team has had some good and bad games but outside of the top line the only forwards I've found to be impressive are Couturier, Lecavalier and Simmonds. Guys like Read and Umberger have gotta get it going.
