I'm sorry. All 5 minutes of Akeson's ice time are reserved for the 4th line only. Please contact your local representative regarding all inquiries and questions about the Flyer line combinations.
Thank you and have a wonderful day. - PhillySportsGuy

I predict a BSchenn sighting on line one before the end of the night.
If we are really playing mix and match maybe even a Read and Akeson shift or two. - Marc D
Just roll line 1 a man down in exchange for a 2 man adv for every pp they're awarded. |

I think BSchenn has been picking it up lately after a lackluster start. - Marc D
Neither brother has been consistent but I think both brothers have picked up their play. Anything to me that makes Luke Schenn valuable outside of hits and blocking shots is he's a healthy player. I don't wanna jinx him but he's always good to go. |

If we're voting, I'll stick with calling him Vandelay.

I'm always looking to rip BSchenn and even I'm having a hard time with it.
That assist he had to his brother was a nice play. |

I get that each line needs some balance; however, I don't know if that is the case. I really don't know what his thought process is. Sometimes, one really has to question his logic.
If you want balance, then separate your two best possession players, G and Jake. Through the first 12 games, Jake has shown he can drive the play without G. If it’s me, my lines would look like this (assuming Couts can play tonight).
BSchenn-G-Simmonds
Read-Couts-Jake
Umby-Vinny-Akeson
Rinaldo-PEB-Jones/VDV - VladDrag
I agree about balance but no way I am splitting up the gingers.

I am not a fan of Vandevelde on the top line but reality is he won't get as many minutes as the gingers even at even strength. I would bet on other guys taking shifts there too |

He wont last on that line long at all. Berube will be forced to try something else. Watch for Schenn to get a crack at it again. |

If Akeson could get us a 3rd rounder i'll buy his ticket to SJ. Unfortunately he just doesnt have that value - J35Bacher
That's crazy talk. I wouldn't trade him for third. He represents flexibility in the line up which IMHO is worth way more then a third. You seriously think a team having problems scoring goals wouldn't trade a third for him? |

He is looking pretty good, points in 4 of his last 5, starting to win more board battles, getting in those greasy areas and moving his feet more. With him, as with most young players, it's all about consistency. |

If Akeson makes one bad play, Berube will bench him. By the third period he'll be skating in a Panthers jersey. |

I understand all of the talk about Akeson not doing enough to make Berube play him. But it is also a good coach's job to try to help a player by putting him in the best position to succeed.
Right now, Berube could help both the player and the team by playing him with Giroux and Voracek.
Its not a reward, its not giving in, it is simply using a limited asset in the best possible way.
I understand what Berube is trying to do with his seemingly "tough love" approach. Saying to Akeson, "this is what you need to improve on if you want to stick in the NHL"...I get that.
But you don't play a safety at nose tackle and expect him to succeed. Then bench him because he doesn't get to the quarterback. Akeson is not a physical player. He is the type of player who needs space created for him by playing with good players. He simply does not have the skill set to play where the other team is keying on him because he is the only guy out there they have to worry about.
BOTH sides of this argument are correct, he isn't playing because he hasn't earned the ice time. But he also isn't being used in a manner that benefits both him AND the team. - MBFlyerfan
