Man, we had a starting goalie in Jeff Hackett come down with vertigo. He had to retire.

Jonas Hiller gets vertigo with the Ducks? That (frank)er posts a 2.16 GAA and .930 SVPCT so far this season for Calgary.

You just have to laugh, sometimes

Ghost hurt. Skates off, but not putting much weight on his left leg.

Well, at least he nabbed 2 assists first...

Take Morin's broken jaw. Maybe, what...4 or 5 guys get their jaws broken every year? At least, that we hear about?

It's not the Tyrell Goulbournes who break their jaw. It's never Zach Stortini who breaks his jaw. It's never Shjon Podein lying in a Nashville bathtub. It's never Zac Rinaldo with an ankle that isn't stable in a skate boot.

It's always the first-round draft pick and the franchise players or the brightest prospects. Never fails.

greater ice time means greater chance of injury, unfortunately

We knew going into it that the Flyers were trading the better player. Umberger needs to pick up his game offensively.

Geez, if L Schenn is the odd man out tonight, then we basically traded a young quality scoring winger for a guy who is 8th on the depth chart of an average D corps.

Oh joy

The author who penned this is a complete fool. Everyone can see that Umberger is a monster away from the puck.

The last 2 trades that involved significant players ( JVR and Hartnell) I hated at the time of deal and still do. The Flyers lost both deals unless we can trade Luke for something half decent and RJ is able to turn his season around and put up 15-20 goals while being a + player.

At least we burned CBJ on the Carter deal, I guess we owed them one

Ya, Hartsy was definitely the more valuable player in that trade. But we're 4th in the league in goals/game. We're also 6th in the league for fewest times shorthanded, with Umberger contributing only 2 minor penalties this year. Columbus is currently in 20th, and Scott Hartnell leads his team in minor penalties with 8. As a team, we aren't missing his goals, and we definitely don't miss his penalties. The real reason people hate this trade is because it looks bad that we lost some net trade value, Hartsy had a fun personality, and he had been here a hella long time. This trade has clearly not had an affect on this team's performance, though.

Umberger just needs to find his offensive game. I still think he's capable of 15-20 goals and 35-40 points, together with a decent defensive game, and work on the PK, he can still be a decent player. It's November 8th. A player is judged over the long haul, not the short term.

I loved hartnell as much as anyone but he doesn't fit the bill here anymore. I think the team wants two way, disciplined and well conditioned players. It's not quite there but in 3 years from now this roster should compose mostly of that ilk
