Yes that 8M for those 2 does cause me to have nightmares
if Luke gets moved i think it will be to a team in the west - 3flyerkids
Can you imagine if Hexy hadn't done so well with MDZ and Schultz this summer? I wish he actually had some money to work with. |

Honestly, Luke Schenn and Umberger have played like borderline NHL players this year. At best, Umberger is a 4th liner right now and Schenn is a 3rd pairing dman. It's sickening that this team is paying these players $8M this year AND next year. - PhillySportsGuy
Luke has been fine once he wasn't paired with MDZ. His stats have slowly but surely improved after that brutal game against NJ where they were -5 or something. |

He said it's the detail that gets disturbing. There are scripts for how everything is supposed to happen. - PhillySportsGuy
I guess that would be kind of freaky...but interesting!

That was at a time when Del Zotto was struggling defensively in the first handful of games this season. |

Got a chance to watch the game; what was obvious is that he and Umberger are really struggling to keep up with the pace of play. I was stunned to see just where Lecavalier's skating is...tough to watch - AllInForFlyers
Yeah, I see the same. He can still do a shimmy w/ the puck on his stick, but he's too slow to cycle effectively, and too slow to wade through the NZ. Still throwing the puck around blindly, too.
I really don't like his chances at producing points at all if he's not on PP1 -- that's the one spot where he actually can still do damage. |

There were several unforced turnovers from Luke last night. One series saw Luke whiff on pass twice in a row when he had all kinds of time. It's almost scary when he has the puck with space |

You've been watching a different player then I have. He's been skating pretty well. Night and day from last year when he was injured. And he's been making a concerted effort defensively and on the back check this season. Made a number of good defensive plays in last night's game. That line just didn't click offensively. - MJL
Differing opinions; I didn't offer any thoughts on his play. I offered an opinion on his skating, and he looked slow.

And Bellamare as well. I understand wanting to get out from underneath Hartnell's contract, but taking back Umberger's corpse really hurts short term. Lecavalier and Umberger are really going to be black holes for the forseeable future. Sucks. That 8 million in cap space could sure come in handy. |

He mishandled the puck a couple of times last night. |

Gonna love having that extra cap space in years 4-5 after Jake cashes in big. |

I feel he's easily replaceable. I think the team needs to move Grossmann or Schenn though. Having both of them really hurts puck movement. |

Doesn't look slow at all to me. In fact his skating is very encouraging. He's never been a speedster. But he is playing a better all around game then he was able to last year. Seems very conscientous of his defensive responsibilities. |

They can buy Umberger out and it wouldn't be horrifying...$1.5 or $1.6 on the cap, $3 million freed up -- and they are gonna need that money, sooner than later |

I'd still prefer to move Big Nik over Luke, as shaky as Schenn has been. All our kids are lefties... Nik is the guy who's going to be the clog in the pipeline moving forward. |

Yeah, I've been really let down by his lack of progress this season. I gave him a pass last season, because he looked like he was still developing and improving, if only on a minor level. But he was looking better. But if I had to lose one this year when Coburn and Amac come back, or to keep MDZ next season, it would be Schenn.. He's been outworked and outplayed by MDZ and Shultz.. and at this point, I'd feel better even having Amac in there.
If it needs to happen, I say Schenn should go... jmo.. |

I want to see the team with 4 two way mobile defenseman. And two defensive types. Coburn is pretty much a lock for one of those spots, and he also skates well. And I don't see them moving Grossmann. |

Several? This says there was one giveaway each from Grossmann, LSchenn, Readd, CC, Giroux and Voracek last night.

There were a couple of plays where he mishandled the puck, where either he was able to recover the puck, or a teammate was, so he wasn't charged with a giveaway. |

Grossmann or LSchenn?
The worst sequence of play last night happened at the start of the 2nd where the team couldn't clear the puck to save their lives, and Giroux made an absolutely appalling giveaway. Didn't involve Luke Schenn but of course he's still the target on here. |
