No, no there's a reason for it. A nice clean open ice hit is all. I didn't say to crosscheck him in the back as he was heading into the boards. I mean, what POS would do that? - Giroux_Is_God
clean open ice hit is fine. no problem with that. |

WHen did Hartnell ever complain about what line he was put on? - PhillySportsGuy[/quote
Seriously? My understanding is that was one of the number one reasons he was traded. He refused to accept a reduced role. I have no sources but that was pretty prominent on this blog alone. |

to be fair, the flyers were not very good that season and probably had no business getting to the conference final. i take some solace in the fact that calgary beat the habs in the final. - hammarby31
No, that was definitely the beginning of the end for the Flyers. You could actually see the wheels coming off of the Keenan era Flyers that season.
My rather intense dislike of Chelios has its origins with the cheap shot on Propp, but there are so many other instances of poopty dangerous play, and asinine commentary from Mssr. Chelios over the years that he's pretty much Persona Non Grata as far as I'm concerned.
Edit: IIRC Holmgren was the coach for the whole season, but that was still Keenan's roster. |

I thought the reasons were
a.) He didn't exactly buy in to Berube's offseason training program
b.) The contract
c.) They were looking for a more all around player with versatility who took less penalties. |

Hard to blame the players, the setup is awful... the only shooting option is Vinny. Coots is completely irrelevant as a scoring threat from the left boards.

I want Talbot back.
I don't want Umberger.
Let's trade Umberger and a 4th for Talbot. |

They put Akeson with VL and Umberger. A real life demotion and Berube promotion. - PhillySportsGuy
didn't see that. figured he shifted him elsewhere, and now i see they were on the ice just now. he just made a very nice play along the wall and got the puck up ice, and really hustled on the backcheck after the play of course turned into garbage near the avs end.
great save by mason. |

I think Berube is slowly beginning to see how Umberger and VL seem to just bring down every line |

In fairness you have more data and info than I do but reasons 1 or 2 would be enough for me as a GM to dump him let alone both. I do think what I said and what you said are not mutually exclusive. Hartnell probably didn't want to play the role the Flyers wanted from him. |
