B Schenn has looked good there
waiting for Read still - Marc D
I think he'll come around. It wouldn't surprise me if he's playing with some minor injury that's nagging him. He doesn't look bad, just off. |

I thought, overall, his game looked better Thursday.

Hard to judge on Simmonds comfortability at LW just yet. That change was made mid game and I dont think he'd played LW at all in practice. He should be fine there given some reps. |

I think folks here will enjoy Brad Marsh's new blog (Once a Flyer, Always a Flyer)
http://www.hockeybuzz.com...-Always-a-Flyer/197/63796
The day after the Alumni game, I met up with Brad for a late lunch at Champps in Marlton. The Eagles game was on TV, so that was what most people were preoccupied watching. However, there was a table adjacent to ours where there were three guys -- anywhere from late 20s to mid 30s -- wearing Flyers sweatshirts and caps. They had zero clue they were sitting within four feet of someone who played 500+ games for the team and went to two Stanley Cup finals with the team.
Brad told me he still gets recognized at the Skate Zone -- he is in context there -- but only once in awhile when he's otherwise out in public. The glasses, the hair (or lack thereof nowadays, compared to that mop of dark hair he had in his Flyers days) and being older (but in fantastic physical condition!) are why.

Crashed awkwardly into the boards, and could barely put weight on his left leg as he eventually skated off with the trainer. Still no word on how long he may be out.

Yeah, could you imagine if Cooter keeps improving and jake becomes an All star which it looks like could happen? They end up with Jack Johnson and that's all.. yikes.. I think the Richards trade is the one that's up for debate as to whether we won it.. I really hope Schenn keeps progressing.. if he does, then we clearly win it with Simmonds.

Hopefully, but he didn't look comfortable to me in the game playing the LW. I really don't like the change, but we'll see how it works out.

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 11/8/14 vs. COL, Gostisbehere Injured in LV Win - bmeltzer
Funny thing about Chris Vandevedle being taken off the top line is, he looks even worse on Vincent Lecavalier's line. He might look alright with Couturier and Read but that line instantly looks solid with Schenn being added to it. I'm just not understanding why it's so important that he of all players stay in the line up.
Reading an article on Scott Laughton early during the summer while rookie camp was going on, maybe the article was one man's opinion but I agreed with Laughton not making the team with the logjam of centers we have but within the article also mentioned that he would get his chance if there was an injury. I also felt like Laughton played good enough during training camp to make the team if not for so many guaranteed deals were not on the roster. With this said, when Lecavalier was hurt, that was a glowing opportunity to get a look at Laughton. Even with Lecavalier's return and Raffl's injury, I was under the impression Bellemare was a natural winger anyway, so one would assume Laughton could still get a look on the fourth line.
I'm also for giving a young player seasoning but what exactly does Vandevelde do for this team long term? |

Hextall is going to be slow in promoting the youngsters. Laughton, Alt, Gostisbehere, Hagg...if Hexy has his way, those kids are staying in at the AHL level, unless there's no other option.
I don't get the VandeVelde love, either, I think he's a borderline NHL 4 th liner. Works hard, but he's got limited skill and ability.

At the moment Vandevelde brings to the team about the same as RJ Umberger is bringing.
4th line grinder and some PK shifts.
Vandevelde is 4+M per season on the cap less then RJ.
I'm not saying VDV is a better hockey player then RJ but they both are giving the Flyers similar play on the ice so far this season. Not talking about RJ's previous NHL seasons.
Hexy wants Laughton to hone his game in the AHL right now. Not a bad plan. |

RW to LW switch won't be too hard for him, I'm guessing. He's played left before in LA... and he's got 2+ seasons of chemistry w/ G and Jake to fall back on. If Berube keeps them together, I'm pretty confident that line will absolutely kill it. |

I don't think there is much doubt about that line being a real good line. The question is, will that make the team a one line team. I'd rather see a better distribution through the lineup. |

He's a decent role player. Has good wheels, and can get in on the forecheck. And go to the net.

If the last game was any indication, they can reasonably expect ES contributions from the Coots and PEB lines if they're kept together. The Vinny line... nothing they can do about that. |

Looking for more then contributions. Need consistent scoring from more then just one line. Not counting Lecavalier out.

I hope you're right. Although expecting the 4th line to score consistently, is expecting a lot in my opinion. Just like to see them hold their own, and spend some time in the O zone.
