You dont remember all his lunatic "improvements" before free agency started? He wanted to throw money at players like Callahan and Vanek and we'd be back in the playoffs.
- theblueandgold

That's right, the improvements that would lead us nowhere. I just thought he was past that and maybe had some other idea.

Final thoughts on this tank and the state of the Sabres...........

No matter how you look at it, it's not good for professional sports and their fans!

Go Bills!

Up 9 points in HBSL and behind by 3 skaters tonight (likely 4 since I doubt Miller gets the start tonight after last night's fiasco).

Just watched Nolan from last night.
"Gorges is great".
On for six goals against.
Double standard with his comment that he is going to hold people accountable.
Has chosen three defensemen, no forwards since beginning of the season to be held accountable.

"Gorges is great."

Ted seems to talk a good game.
Wonder if he will ever be held accountable.

I haven't had any issues with Gorges. I think he's playing pretty well on a team that's pretty horrendous.

BTW, I like how you didn't mention the fact that he was also on the ice for the Sabres goal. And not only was he on the ice for it, but he was a huge reason why they even scored it.

If you want to criticize, at least take the whole picture into account.

Gorges is the guy that has to get on the ice when Mike Weber inexplicably gets off just before the goals are scored. "Gorges is great..." at taking the blame for poopbags like Weber, and stopping just as many pucks as Enroth last night.... He's more than doubled anyone on the team in blocked shots. That is just crazy

Sorry. You are right. Was only on the ice for one for and six against.

Anyway, my point was not against Gorges.
I have nothing against him.

People have good and bad games.

It is Nolan that bothers me.
He is inconsistent.
He says he is going to hold people accountable and is extremely inconsistent in application.
The problem is not goal tending or defense.
It is a lack of scoring goals.

Some excellent players are way off their game from previous years.
Forwards rarely rush the net and usually don't use the point.

I am not sure if the word is a systems problem but it is a problem the coaches should have been on top of a long time ago.

What you're seeing is a team that doesn't seem to have any coaches that are good at the x's and o's. Nolan isn't that guy. We all knew that. And my guess would be that when all is said and done with the rebuild here, Nolan isn't the guy behind the bench.

Nobody can convince me that Orton isn't crap. Yes, he makes a couple good passes, but so does just about every quarterback in existence. His decision making is absolutely terrible.

Take away the drops and fumbles and he doesn't look so bad.

I'm not talking about our overall offense today. It's just the terrible decisions. AT LEAST 5 overthrown passes in the red zone, passing badly to a guy with 3 guys covering him, that last play that was nearly intercepted with none of our receivers even close... Not to mention that ridiculous "effort" he made to stretch for a first down when Hogan was wide open by a mile.
