Why does everyone want to trade Coburn so badly? - PhillySportsGuy
I don't. I am hopeful they find some way to extend him, TBH |

What would the cap penalties be to waive him to send him to the phantoms? - consigrn
All but $925K of his cap hit would still count.
And Hextall doesn't want to bring up Laughton, so if you demote Umberger you would just be adding another AHL-quality player like Jones in to the line upwhen we already have Akeson, Rinaldo and VdV in the top 12 with Raffl out. |

Yup, unless they are bringing up Laughton, theres no point in waiving the corpse. Making him a healthy scratch when Raffl comes back is fine with me though |

I can't believe all of these injuries on D. Ghost is obviously out as one of our first call ups and if Schenn is out for a bit Carlo C is back in.. hopefully he continues to play well and we don't get any more injuries here. |

No way. The Gagne, and Kubina heists were his best by far.

I would play him ahead of VdV.

I don't mind the trade record, really... tough for any GM to come out more than a shade over 50% in the long run there.
Those UFA signings and that cap management, tho... |

Here is the report from the 2nd tier affiliate in Reading.
Hextall has done a lousy job with providing goalies
EDIT he hasnt done much for the front end of things either.
Martin Oulette should get a job doing something else, he can be beat over the shoulder and glove hand by a mite and also has weak coverage low at the post. I doubt he could be a bartender since he couldnt get his hands up to shake a martini shaker.
The team is not hitting anything and d zone coverage has been abysmal when opposing players are in motion. That is the coach who is also the gm to an extent.
You ever watch a team and they are skating hard but doing nothing defensively when they have a chance to hit someone along the boards they pass it up EVERY TIME.
Plus the player who had his knee taken out in last years playoffs had the opportunity to run the guy who purposely hurt him and did zilch.
Remember the scene in Slapshot where the old man GM of the Chiefs came in the locker room during the playoff game and called them all "P#####s?
I can tell you their single season splurge in season tickets and attendees as an affiliate will drop quicker than a stock run with automatic computer trading unless they clean this mess up.
At this point the 2014-2015 Reading Royals season tickets are the worst investment I have made in my life for anything. If I dont see improvement, I may just give them to my friends who live in Berks County, rather than spend money on tolls, fuel, parking and concessions. |

True. I look at all the transactions he made as Flyers GM trades and Free Agent signings and there is a lot of terrible moves. There are some good moves as well.
A lot of it is just not being able to get out of his own way. I understood the concept of dealing from a strength to address a weakness with the JVR trade. JVR's trade value was at an all-time low coming off an injury plagued season. Imagine JVR on the line with Giroux and Voracek right now. It would probably be the top line in the NHL, or close to it.
Another transaction that really bothered me was Lecavalier. Flyers just used a buyout on Briere, and of course Holmgren had to take the new found cap space and invest it in an aging player on the wrong side of 30. Just dumb. |

Oh yes, 100% with me too.
The last of the Homer idiocy signings. I wonder how much the old man Snider pushed him to get names that were recognizable to sell season tickets. I mean did they really go through the vetting process for any of these signings that year. 50/50 there with Emery and Streit vs Vinny and of course the Bryzaster.
The Flyers had fascination with LeCavalier for years. I have told the story of someone who used to work with the Lightning (who works for another NHL franchise now) told me they had his bag packed for a trade to the Flyers years ago, but the owner of the team nixed it. They have had a really lousy trading history with that team going back to the Gratton fiasco.
Isnt it great to be a GM and waste millions of dollars every years |

It's too bad they can't play the entire game a man up... Vinny would be pretty good if he didn't have to ever skate 5V5. |

Really hope some GM that doesn't look any deeper than surface numbers sees these raw points he's picking up and takes him off Hexy's hands. |

Unfortunately I just don't see it. All these GM's have toadies that look at analytics with a microscope. He's a black hole 5x5 and everyone knows it... Everyone except Berube. |

Sadly, the Flyers' toadie doesn't seem to have any pull w/ the coaching staff, lol. |
