Ugh. Glad it isn't worse. For all his flaws, never want to see someone take a tumble like that one |

Well 1 week of that they don't play a game so he'll be out 1 week, not a big deal. |

Japan's hope for hockey. Kid is 11. Nice video.
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/...-hockey-prodigy-1.2826209 - flyer_nutter
Japan actually has some good players. Few on the main island (Honshu) have much exposure or interest in hockey but hockey is huge in the snowy northernmost island of Hokkaido, which is where about 90-95 percent of all Japanese players come from. A few have played in Europe and two over the years were drafted by NHL teams with one (goalie Yutaka Fukufuji) briefly playing for the LA Kings.
There is actually some talent in Japan and South Korea but most of the best players are severely undersized and thy don't get enough exposure to top-level opposition and coaching.
If anyone is interested, I did an article a couple years ago on Japanese hockey for the International Ice Hockey Federation website and learned a lot in researching it. If the NHL teams ever really wanted to start creating a prospect pool in Asia, they should start in Hokkaido and a couple of South Korean university programs rather than trying to get Chinese hockey -- which is way, waaaaay behind the other two -- off the ground floor.
Japan is no hockey power but it's not nearly as barren hockeywise as people think, if they know where to look. The NHL's ventures there back in the 1990s were all geared toward the mainlanders and around the Nagano games. Folks in Tokyo, Osaka and the other big commercial centers couldn't care less. But look up north on Hokkaido and you find no shortage of players and interest.

Max Talbot had 2 points through 15 games before last night. He had a goal and an assist last night. What is it with former Flyers scoring against us? |

I love that line a lot. I think Schenn and Couts have a great chance to grow together and turn into something special. |

Schenn has added a great element to the line with Coots and Read. Right now there are three lines that are humming. Now if VDV-LeCavalier-Umberger could do something. - ManCity
Kid is in the process of breaking out. Or at least that's what I hope is happening. |

Not sure if Bellmare can play LW or RW, but right not the move is to send Umberger to the 4th line. And play Bellemare with Lecavalier |

He has to give his max effort though. As soon as he lets up he becomes very ordinary. It'll interesting to see if he can keep this play up. |

Bellemare can play the wing, but I really worry about our 4th line minus Bellemare. If Umberger centers Rinaldo and VDV, the negatives outweigh the positives of moving Bellemare up IMO |

Remains to be seen. Umberger is struggling, and that line is not generating enough shots. Bellemare can help with his skating. And once Raffl comes back, if Simmonds is going to stay on the top line, I think Raffl/Lecavalier/Bellemare makes a nice mix. Providing Bellemare can play the right side. |
