I was in the building last night and I definitely felt reminded of the games that the NYR played during the 97-04 dark ages. I used to always go to about 10 games a year back in those days. Same dreery feel.

My first game of the year, went to two games during the playoff run and I can't believe how 5 months later the energy was completely gone from the building. I have never heard the building that quiet, other than the row of Oiler fans who made the trip from Canada sitting right behind me who wouldn't shut up all night.

This game definitely made me say WHOA. What in the hell is going on with this team. If they are just going to mail in games and not try the rest of the season, please tell me now and I won't waste my time. That was a pathetic display. I couldn't believe they didn't get a shot on goal against that defense until halfway into the 3rd period down a goal. All i can say is WOW.

Im starting to understand the term stanley cup final hangover. They just don't seem interested right now.

It really comes down to defense though and that will only improve. They were terrible defensively last year too for the first half of the season until they finally clicked and then successful defense led to successful offense.

With the cap likely staying the same...one of Staal, MSL, or Zucc are goners.

Zucc should of held out for that contract last offseason. Right now I don't know if I would give him a long term deal. I still think Staal gets resigned but at this point who knows anymore. This is not the team I was expecting to see this year.

Going from the SCF double OT games to early november is tough...short summer plus Olympic hockey last year. Kostka, hunwick, and allen all on defense. Again I think this team will be fine once mcdonagh and boyle hit their strides and it gets closer to march. These are the dogdays of the season already for us.

That is the only positive really, that the season is only 14 games old. Getting a completely healthy roster will be a nice start but there is no guarantee that will happen in this league.

Yea I don't think anyone is throwing in the towel yet but this weekend was an eye opener for sure. Gonna create a lot more questions about the team.

I guess if the other team knows the worst they are going to get while skating with the puck is a stick check they will skate rings around you like the Oilers did last night.

Maybe a three overtime games took it's toll but that's no excuse for the hockey we witnessed this weekend, they are talented enough and they are experienced enough to be the likes of Edmonton to Toronto, we can't keep going back to last season, it was a different situation and you can't do it two years in a row expect to get back to the finals, they need to have the next three games badly or that whole is going to get bigger needless to say
