Those two ingredients are basically exactly what we need.
Hansen/Matthias/prospect for Ladd
How do we we pry Burns out of SJ??

Team needs to trade Higgins, Hansen and get rid of Burrows. They need to add a big stay at home dman and get a top six winger. Play some youth and they'll be fine. |

I'm not sold on moving Higgins just yet as I think he will find his stride much like Hamhuis will on the back end. If we are RIGHT out of it at the TDL then yes Higgy needs to maybe get moved.
Hansen and Burrows need to go and it needs to happen very soon.

Hookers and lots of 9 .00 wine - VANTEL
LOL I have a few cases of PKNT Cab that I can send to SJ
No hookers tho.
However my buddy who is a music teacher/pianist/ tells me I really haven't lived until I have experienced a $1000/night hooker...
He used to work HIGH END parties in Calgary hired as a pianist and man some of the crap he has told me about politicians and big wigs at these parties would curl your hair... |

What a beautiful day!!!
Perfect weather for a few cold beers in the yard, puffing on a jazz cigarette in anticipation of tonights game while being soothed by the trippy tunes of the Benevento/Russo Duo (heavy hammond organ). |

No way of knowing Kopitar would have developed the same way in Van. Kopitar was just surrounded by the right players at the right time. Lombardi deserves so much credit for literally STEALING Carter and Richards (booze bros.) Without those two in the lineup in 2012 the Kings run would have been very different as goes for some of the players that developed playing with them. If we would have had a healthy Daniel in that series and the Queens were minus Carter/Richards it would have been a way closer series. We still may not have won but when Daniel returned it changed the entire dynamic of the club.
I wouldn't give Sutter much credit for Kopitar's development either. Sutter has a 'knack' for getting involved with teams that are already built much like in Calgary where he took credit for the Flames cup run in '04 when it was really Craig Button who worked so bloody hard to put that team together.
Kopitar is a stud because he was surrounded by the right talent...hard to say if it would have happened the same way here. - LordHumungous
Sutter was named GM after the team that button worked so hard to put together missed the playoffs ...than he added several key pieces which included kipper ...I do think that he is a far greater coach than GM but he was a very important part of the flames run and the Kings .

Ya I'm not buying some of that but Kipper for sure was all Sutter. Leopold, Conroy, Gelina, Commodore and a host of others were all Button and most of the pieces were in place before Sutter got there very similar to the LA situation. That's twice he has 'magically appeared' close to or after teams have been structured. Plus he effectively with some real marbleheaded GM'ing ran a pretty good Calgary team right into the ground and they had a core of 10+real good players too.
I would tend to give Sutter 'a bit' more credit for the Queens second cup as he did achieve the same results with basically the same core but again...the team was basically unchanged from the previous years. SO some credit where credit is due here but for me it's a small amount.
Remember Kipper too was nothing more than a 3rd string goalie that had a real good/somewhat lucky run at the time in '04. He was consistent yes but really after that cup run he was alot like Lou. Brilliant at times but basically good for two weak goals/game. Which in large part was one of the reason the Flames weren't able to get back to the playoffs after '04. Which was too bad but it is good to see the Falmes doing good now. I hope they are for real but I have a feeling much like the Canucks once they hit the meaty part of the schedule reality is going to bite hard...we'll see |

Yea Sbisa is growing on me, same as Miller - bezz44
I liked Miller from the beginning but not his contract or his personality excellent goalie though. Sbisa is growing on me mostly because of his elite fluid skating.
On a side note lets hope this isn't the start of the spiral down the standings. We were seriously outmatched 2 games in a row regardless of the win in san joe. |

Higgins has been one of our best and most consistent so far this season. Just sayin. |

They need to get bigger faster and punish teams. LA injured 3 of our players last night from their size and Banging - VANTEL
Dorsett got hurt trying to hurt one of their players. Vrbata was already hurt. |

Terry Murray had a ton of plaudits after the first Cup in 2012. In fact, the organization requested that his name be put on the Cup but that request was declined. Murray taught the squad how to play tough and especially how to play with the puck against the boards. Sutter kind of galvanized the team after his arrival and taught them how to play with a more aggressive forecheck. That was the key. Well, that and moving Johnson and getting Carter. Lombardi has also been gracious in his praise for Dave Taylor for drafting some of the core of the team. |

Drew just slipped right out of that position along the back wall ever so slightly creating a bad angle for Dorsett. Ouch. |

Long term I'm still skeptical on the signing but so far it has exceeded my expectations. He is a very good skater and I like that his hits have an actual impact. And agreed, but I think we just match up very poorly against the Cali teams. I think we can beat any other team in the NHL but those three have our number physically and mentally |

Agreed I'm coming around on the Miller signing too.
The Cali teams are in our heads. Yes they have a winning 'dynamic' but they are totally beatable.
Question is how do we get the remaining ingredients to beat them consistently?

I would argue the only team out of the 3 with the winning dynamic is LA. Ducks and Sharks haven't really translated regular season success into playoff success thus far. I think it is primarily a mental problem, though they are obviously strong teams by any standrards |

Here is some actual reality
Kipper won a vezina after his "lucky" run to the finals
The flames didnt fail to make the playoffs after their run they actually made it each of the next 4 years
Sutter added Warrener, reinprecht, Nilson, neiminen, Simon , and of course kipper ...so he did add some role players who helped
The Kings were no ones pick to win the cup when sutter was hired ...many thought what was a potential promising season to start the year that turned to disaster was over
I'll admit he did a pretty good job of destroying the prospect pool later on but to say he is just landing in these magical scenarios and has very little to do with the results is ridiculous

Perry is still out I think.
I just hope we don't get blown out. I don't care if we lose in a hard fought battle but man the injuries are piling up and please no blow out
