Corey Perry is going to shred us tonight.

Him and Vermette just live to score against the Nucks.

Thought someone said he was still out sick.

Bring'em on anyway, no excuses for any result. See if we can have a more respectable showing tonight.

I liked Miller from the beginning but not his contract or his personality excellent goalie though. Sbisa is growing on me mostly because of his elite fluid skating.

On a side note lets hope this isn't the start of the spiral down the standings. We were seriously outmatched 2 games in a row regardless of the win in san joe.

- thundachunk

He has a good shot also. I could see him down the road scoring 10

Dorsett got hurt trying to hurt one of their players. Vrbata was already hurt.
- manvanfan

Sbisa Richardson and Dorsett got hurt last night. Trying to check is still getting hurt trying to play a big team.

I don't buy that, he should be finishing checks regardless of the opposition

Agreed I'm coming around on the Miller signing too.

The Cali teams are in our heads. Yes they have a winning 'dynamic' but they are totally beatable.

Question is how do we get the remaining ingredients to beat them consistently?

- LordHumungous

Cali teams are flat out better than us. It is not only because they are in our heads.

Yes but on any given night any team can beat any other team in the league. The level of domination Cali teams have achieved over the Canucks is in part because they are superior teams but much of it is mental. I think St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Boston, Chicago etc. all have better teams than we do but I like our chances against them vs. Cali teams

I would bet if we played the Oilers last night we don't lose three men to injury. Different strategies for different teams.

I like our chances against other teams too. The 3 California teams are the 3 best teams in the league. Writers around the league call it Death Valley . It is not a Canucks thing.

Here is some actual reality

Kipper won a vezina after his "lucky" run to the finals

The flames didnt fail to make the playoffs after their run they actually made it each of the next 4 years

Sutter added Warrener, reinprecht, Nilson, neiminen, Simon , and of course kipper ...so he did add some role players who helped

The Kings were no ones pick to win the cup when sutter was hired ...many thought what was a potential promising season to start the year that turned to disaster was over

I'll admit he did a pretty good job of destroying the prospect pool later on but to say he is just landing in these magical scenarios and has very little to do with the results is ridiculous

- Redmile247

Well I wouldn't quite put Warrener, reinprecht, Nilson, neiminen, Simon elevated to the status of Gelinas-Leopold-Commodore and Conroy but you are correct they did have some impact in that run. Kipper was the big one that Sutter deserves credit for for sure. But again the dynamic of that club had ALREADY been established before Sutter got there. This was no different in LA. Murray and Lombardi along with some shrewd moves built a potential winner and you you are right that no one expected LA to go deep for a certain period of time but after CArter and Richards were acquired the thinking there changed too. Sure Sutter added his 'tweaks' and such as all coaches do but again he arrived in LA AFTER the dynamic was built for that team to win. To say the Sutter is solely responsible for that first cup win is crazy. Everything was in place. It's like saying Burke was responsible for the Ducks win in '07 when Brian Murray basically built that whole club...ridiculous.

All I'm saying is that the moves made OUTSIDE of what Sutter had done in Calgary and LA were more impactful than Sutter himself.

To me, what is happening in Calgary right now is a damn good example of excellent coaching. Hartley has taken a bottom feeding club and with strong conditioning some strong draft picks and a system players buy into has turned that club into an impressive energetic impactful team with solid Defense. Hiller has been an outstanding addition. Now are the Flames for real? Time will tell but man I will say that Sutter couldn't pack Hartley's lunch on his BEST day.

Difference here being of course is that Hartley (for lack of a better term) wasn't spoon fed a club like Sutter was in LA in 2012. Sure one could argue that Hartley had it easy in Colorado with deeper players but to me Hartley has shown some true colors here. outstanding coaching so far.

Kipper played very well for you guys for a few years after the cup run and yes again I will give Sutter full marks for that...but on the outside looking in Kipper was a 3rd stringer from SJ that had a good (albeit somewhat) few years and a whole wack of 'super average' years. Take it for what it is I guess...

I'm not so sure that they are. Three of the best for sure but the three best? And in the regular season the Kings are absolutely beatable by regular teams, but we get poopkicked every game, in part probably because they play us harder but I think it's also an issue of continuous failure piling up. The Sharks and Ducks are usually strong regular season teams and yet I actually like our chances against the Ducks better than the other two

Well I can agree with you on the Hartley thing ...he really comes off as a arrogant little puke but he is a good coach ...he has also changed a lot since Colorado.

I look at the players Sutter added much like the additions of a Torres , lappy , etc
Not your top line core but guys who gave great 3rd and 4th line minutes that were necessary to win ...the key is what sutter got out of those guys ...much like what he got out of his bottom 6 in the first cup run with LA

To me what we have now could not have seemed possible a couple years ago ...drafting is huge...development too ...also some crafty little trades to aquire players that just had no room to join their teams ...much like linden vey ...if he was on say edm he would have played a year already

I guess we will have to disagree on kipper
