I like our chances against other teams too. The 3 California teams are the 3 best teams in the league. Writers around the league call it Death Valley . It is not a Canucks thing.

The Cali teams hate the Canucks, it almost seems like a personal hatred so they go all out and always try to win. You can't tell me that they'd play some random Eastern team like the Rangers or Habs or even other Western teams like the Preds or Stars like they do against the Canucks. IMO they get up for games against VAN just as much as they do when they play each other or CHI/STL. Only problem for the Canucks is they're no longer good enough to handle it like the Cali teams or STL/CHI.



Especially L.A. I'd say the hatred towards the Canucks in Cali ranks:

1. Kings
2. Sharks
3. Ducks

I don't feel like ANA has as much personally against the Canucks(outside of Kesler now) so it feels like a more winnable game.

I think with SJ/LA it has more to do with the multiple playoff series. Plus I don't think the core players on each side are the best of friends.

With the Sedins in place of Vrbata IMO.

No way of knowing Kopitar would have developed the same way in Van. Kopitar was just surrounded by the right players at the right time. Lombardi deserves so much credit for literally STEALING Carter and Richards (booze bros.) Without those two in the lineup in 2012 the Kings run would have been very different as goes for some of the players that developed playing with them. If we would have had a healthy Daniel in that series and the Queens were minus Carter/Richards it would have been a way closer series. We still may not have won but when Daniel returned it changed the entire dynamic of the club.

I wouldn't give Sutter much credit for Kopitar's development either. Sutter has a 'knack' for getting involved with teams that are already built much like in Calgary where he took credit for the Flames cup run in '04 when it was really Craig Button who worked so bloody hard to put that team together.

Kopitar is a stud because he was surrounded by the right talent...hard to say if it would have happened the same way here.

What ever... Kopitar wasnt a hidden gem who needed the right players to shine like you are making it sound. A team could screw up some of his development but my money is he would still end up a world class power forward.

With the Sedins in place of Vrbata IMO.
