I think because he was the only player on a team that sat back on leads that was in on the forecheck every shift working hard. On a team where more than one player are allowed by the coach to forecheck at a time I think his effectiveness is less visibly present

He never used to get a sniff of top six ice. As a bottom six grinder and penalty killer he was good, probably our best forechecker. But watching him in an offensive role is a particularly cruel form of torture.

Not too weird as Hansen came up under AV and his run/gun game was perfect for that system/time.

Now that the rest of the west has basically passed us in speed (and especially size) Hansen...(and Burrows to an extent) have so far become useless in the west. It's just life in the west right now.

Get Hansen to an eastern team that can use his speed/forecheck for a fourth (or maybe third) line role and leave him there.

Burrows should be with the Sedins tonight but maybe WD is sending Burrows a message after Burrows apparently reaming out his team yesterday on the bench.

Then again Burrows really hasn't earned the right to be on the first line either.
