Intersting read on EKane in the Jets blog today. They're using him heavily in defensive situations and he's apparently really excelling at it. He'd be one of the last wingers I would've guessed that would be able to do that.

I usually try to avoid these pissing matches you guys seem to have on a daily basis. But my opinion is that VLC has looked to be moving well and up on his skates for the games he HAS played so far. He has never been a speedster, but he has hardly looked slow by any metric. But then again, he didn't murder my kittens and sleep with my mother like he seems to have done to some in here.

Why does it have to be that he murdered anybody's kittens?

If you say "he still has a great shot" and "he has great offensive instincts" and "he has great hands," those are all hockey-related skills. Those are my opinions, too, right?

So, if I say I think he's slow, that's a hockey-related skill, too. And an opinion. No different than the above opinions, except this one doesn't radiate positivity.

So, my question is this: If Vinny is so great in all categories that there is nothing he doesn't do well, then why wouldn't anyone trade for him when Ron Hextall gave his agent permission to seek a trade?

If I have an opinion that Lecavalier is the best player in the league, is that a valid opinion? Of course it isn't. So you can have the opinion that he is slow, but that doesn't make it true. He's certainly not fast, but he's not slow either.

Secondly, there is some hyperbole here. Nobody has stated that Lecavalier is "so great in all categories". So not sure what you're talking about there.

Lastly, Lecavalier suffered a back fracture and had a down season, last year. It's understandable that teams would be weary of that, with having 4 years left on his contract at 4.5M a year. And we truly don't know that anyone wouldn't trade for him. A team could have made an offer that the Flyers turned down.

It's pretty obvious that he is in much better condition then he was last year, and his quickness and skating is much improved from where it was last season after the injury.

Just so you know.....Vinny didn't murder my kittens. He just accidentally left the door open and they escaped.

I'm not even anti-Vinny. If there's a period or game where someone can point to where he doesn't look like one of the slowest players, if not the slowest, on the ice, by all means, let me know. I can call up any Flyers game, and I would, because unless he looked like the Roadrunner in the one game I missed, that dude is slow
