If it's Moen, it wouldn't surprise me if they eat some of Myers salary(this season only) and get either a b prospect or another pick along with VN.
I do think Myers is a good player. I'm of the opinion they feel Risto and/or Zads are going to be just as good if not better than Myers. Hence why they'll move him for the right deal. - dadeadhead
I am more open to him being traded than ever.
This team is ruining players like him. One bad play (it was really bad) and he will be destroyed by the fans and media for weeks.
I agree that Risto and Zads can possibly be better, I would just love to know for sure before I pull the trigger |

I don't know....it looked like McDavid had a chip on his shoulder tonight.
If you ever listen to an interview of him, he's pretty down to earth for a superstar teenager. Talks a lot about rounding out his game and always mentions his teammates.
That being said, you can't go wrong with Eichel. - sbroads24
"Humblebrag" and "deference to mortal colleagues" are essential elements of superstar interview training 101 for the last 15 years. |

alright lets get this myers deal done before dallas swoops us.
our first and martin gernat?
side note; you'd be happy to take eichel at 2. but if u get the choice, don't overthink it. it's CONNOR MCDAVID. hes next level and a Crosby type talent.
saw him last season twice live. wow. just wow.

I have a crazy idea the difference will be more pronounced over time. It has to do with satisfaction: it's only natural to work hardest toward unrealized goals. If you already "know", for years, you're the best in your peer group, it's hard to think you have to work harder to bring the team success.
It's something that will be a long term personality trait in a kid whose already 18. - Der Kaiser
Like Crosby, I think McDavid has this in him and I don't think him being the best of his peer group will slow him down either. In fact, I bet he ends up working pretty hard to make sure it stays that way. Just my opinion though. |

The hype is real! and damn that 1st is really tempting, decent gamble on both sides. Myers excels in Edmonton and we look stupid or Myers implodes and the oilers look bad. |

I have my own opinions on myers and ive seen him be dominant. and ive seen him be slow to react and mistake prone.
but what I haven't see enough of is his ability to start the rush. and I really think this is the crux of the amount of difference he makes for the oilers. we need him to be competent in our end of course, but we need him to deal with a fierce western forecheck and use his size to beat it.
I know he can carry the puck well enough for someone so huge, but hows his first pass with a heavy forecheck? is he often strong at breaking the forecheck and turning it up ice? |

I do feel McDavid will have the better statistical career.
Eichel will be the leader in the Toews type mold. |

Not sure I could give a good answer, the group up front doesn't really help his cause in that department. I mean, i've seen him make those passes well enough before and I've seen them back fire but I bet it winds up looking better with a good group of forwards and some better coaching. |

So...
Is the prevailing thought that Dallas was making room to acquire Myers?
Could get interesting here
Obviously, Murray is gonna start making moves to shape the team how he likes
You'd think it's only a matter of time before he's trying to get us some offensive help
If that Myers for Nichuskin rumor is true...
How many on here would be happy?
I know a lot of you are still high on Myers.

Myers the untouchable on that 3rd St Louis goal last night , Sabres on the PP no less.
Myers is just like that "sniper" Armia.

If it's Myers for Nichushkin, I'm in.
However, before I pull that trigger, I would need some assurances that the big Ruskie's goal is to stay in North America.

"Buffalo Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday’s 6-1 loss to the Blues and will miss at least one game.

How much does myers getting walked on that one play hurt his value? Its just one play, but its gonna be on the wrong side of some highlight reels, and it didnt help that the talking knobs on nbcs immediately called him out for being too soft on a 5'10" player. |

None.
Every defenseman gets walked around at one time or another. It happens.
My thought on why more would be coming back is do to Dallas only has 5.247 in cap space. Either Buffalo eats pat of Myers cap hit (this year only) or Dallas needs to send a salary dump. I doubt Dallas wants to be riding the cap max. |

- BuffaloHardHat
Someone still doesn't understand the meaning of the word "sniper".
Sniper = Someone who is often thinking about taking a shot on a play, and has a good ability to take shots. Someone who has teammates that think about passing to them to finish off a play. If you'd ever seen Armia shoot a puck, you'd know he's a sniper.
You don't have to be some perennial 30+ goal scorer to be called a sniper. There are certain player types: Playmakers, snipers, 2 way forwards, checking and energy forwards, and fighters. Every pro player from juniors to the Olympics has a set player type. How well they succeed in that role is the big question. It's not that difficult to comprehend. |

I believe according to the cba, we are only allowed to retain salary on 3 players in any given season. Maybe taking horcoff would be better. More wiggle room for the rest of the season. Hate to think we couldnt trade stafford or hodgson because we couldnt retain some salary. |

I don't think they're retaining salary on anyone right now though, so if it were Myers, they could still do so on the other 2 you mentioned. |

I don't think that would be an issue to be honest. If your GM sees a deal for a guy and that's one of the stipulations, they have to take it. There's no guarantee that they'd be able to trade anyone else somewhere else later in the season. I wouldn't want him to bank on that, so if there's a guy he really wants and the team is willing to make the trade with us retaining some salary for whatever player we're sending their way right now, I'm totally fine with it.
