I will defend against all positives given to advanced statistics because it is not 100% reliable and infallible. |

I'm not assuming. Past evidence of how other flawed stats such as Corsi, were accepted as gospel, suggests that this couldl be the same. Not for all, but with enough for it to be an issue. - MJL

What do you expect, really? You can time VLC with a sundial, but if we did just that, it would be explained to you how the shade is flawed |

Please define false data - PhillySportsGuy
Shot data from a shift on the ice is applied to all 10 skaters on the ice, whether they were involved or had anything to do with generating the shot, or giving up the shot.
A perfect example is a forward turns the puck over in the D zone, leading to 3 shot attempts against in a shift. A defenseman on the ice, at the same time, executed perfectly, and covered his responsibilities perfectly. He skates to the bench a -3 in corsi events for that shift.
As much as 30% of Corsi data is false data for individual players.

Because it's something to do. Of course, we could go back to arguing about the effectiveness of Umberger and whether or not Vinny sucks, which has much more bearing on the Flyers' management's decision-making process. |

No, in the context of having an impact on NHL management, our opinions mean squat. But we're not interacting in that realm. We're interacting in this realm. I think this forum is a representation of the average hockey fan in the world. |

And if that happens, Akeson's failure will be blamed on Lecavalier, and Umberger. And there is nothing wrong with Lecavalier's skating. He's skating pretty well, and his quickness is much improved from last year. - MJL
I would say that VLC has lost a step or two in his straight away speed. He can't blow around D men on the rush and crash the net for goals like he used to do. He also seems to get winded quicker. This is typical for an aging player. His quickness seems "OK" but he does seem to lag behind in reaction time vs. some quicker, younger players at times.
Vinny is still crafty in the offensive zone...he likes to play (position himself) in the slot and cycling around the net and coming out to the right side between the goal line and the top of the right circle, but as Berube (finally) noted, he needs someone to get him the puck in those spots. He can't carry the puck with the speed he used to to create his own chances...maybe Akeson can help. |

Which accounts to a lot of nothing. This is mindless bantering that has no real effect on our lives. At least I hope it doesn't. That would actually be pretty sad. |
