I have no problem with him fighting.
He's not going to get the benefit of the doubt in the NHL. It's better for him to stand up to whoever tries to challenge him. - KGBflyers10

Sort of related, I've been to a fair amount of NHL arenas. I have to say that the Flyers have BY FAR the most in-game advertising I've seen. Most arenas play music or have interactive stuff going on, but the Flyers spend every TV timeout of the first 2 periods trying to sell you everything under the sun. Very annoying. - jmatchett383
i've complained about this for a long time. i know where the goddamn fan store is, and i know they have t-shirts. if i want one, i'll find it. and stop with the (frank)ing santa sacks and drunken irish sacks and the carnival bullpoop (not the carnival itself, but promoting it constantly - we all (frank)ing know about it, okaaaaaay!). ugh. just about everything bothers me about the live game experience except for the game itself, which is basically an afterthought to a 3 hour commercial at outrageously high volume. |

Wow, I didn't realize how poorly the Stars are doing. Only Columbus and Buffalo are worse in the standings. They might as well be dead last tho with Columbus having an insane amount of injuries and Buffalo barely icing a NHL caliber squad. - hereticpride

The goal he let in was funny.
McDavid out indefinitely until he sees specialist. - PhillySportsGuy
Anyone know the circumstances as to why McDavid was fighting in the first place?
I actually think that the circumstances are a little important. It doesn't mean I think he should TOTES DROP THE GLOVES DUDE!11!! I just want to understand what was in his head when he made the decision...
I mean, if it's because someone called him a name or something ridiculous, that's just dumb. And it's even worse if he got goaded into it....guys will be trying that on a nightly basis in the NHL. You can't let your guard down like that when you are as talented as McDavid. |

To me, it just depends on why he was fighting.
You can't have him drop the gloves everytime someone calls him a name. I would want to know what went into the decision to fight.
If it was in the context of game flow, I have much less of a problem with it. Ideally, he's not fighting at all. |

Good point.
I didn't mean he should run from a fight, but he shouldn't make it a common occurrence. I only saw the fight, not the lead up. From
What was said, it was not a situation where he had to stick up for himself. Craig Button, for instance, called it a case of a smart player doing something "stupid" |

IMO, there's no reason at all for somebody who has 51pts in 18 games to feel the need to prove themselves in any other way. Just keep killing em on the scoreboard, you little dummy. |

From what has been written about it, and rewatching the play/fight, he seems to be upset at a check he took. Doesn't look like a dirty hit or cheap play. I don't see much reason for him to fight for the hit he took:
The other kid barely clipped him, looks like. |

Right now if Buffalo offered their first round pick to TB for Stamkos who says no? |

At what point in the game did the fight happen? It could have been building up from early on. Everybody has a breaking point.

I would. McDavid is a monster in the OHL. Stamkos is the best goal scorer in the NHL, and he's still only 24. |

That's why I say I reserve full judgement. The hit looks like a nothing hit. If that's what he took objection to, then it's not that bright. Even if he just got harassed through the game, it seems like a mistake. He's going to be a marked man when he gets to the NHL. He's going to need to have a long fuse. |

I have been away a couple days. I guess Umberger is still on the team..if he is hopefully it is a 4th line position
Don't like matchup against the 0-9 CBJ after Flyers coming off a week layoff.
Hope they don't get downa couple goals early ( wouldn't suprise me) |
