Horrible 3rd goal. Pulled. 4th goal was Labarbara and it was bad too - wilsonecho91
he almost got the williams goal. nothing wrong with that one. he was very fortunate that kopitar hit him with the final SO shot. he went poke check with him at the hash marks. loved his celebration. |

no, i just meant that's exactly the kind of game the flyers would lose. go up by 2 with under 10 to go and lose in the SO. |

Are we still trying to trade VLC, Umberger and Rinaldo for Mike Richards this morning?

Really depressing stuff happening to Nathan Horton
http://bluejacketsxtra.di...-blue-jackets-horton.html
He has a degenerative back problem that's keeping him from standing without pain let alone playing NHL hockey. He can either get surgery to fix it but also end any chance at playing in the NHL again or keep trying other remedies that haven't worked at all yet. And he's only 29. |

That does suck.
I remember when he came out of junior thinking he was going to be an absolute beast. |

The decision is easy, IMO.
Time to hang it up. You want to play with your grandkids, right?
Absolute shame |

The decision in theory is easy, but we're talking about a guy not only giving up his job but his passion too. Plus all these doctors and medical professions are telling him they can fix him so it's kind of a conflicting thing going on. I'm sure he'll exhaust all options and then if he's not better, get the surgery. |

I have degenerative discs in my back as well. His career is over. People kept telling me I could get better with rehab but I didn't feel any better after 4 months of it. My doctors have told me I can't play competitive sports anymore let alone a rough game like hockey. Even if he does work his way back, he won't be an effective player. Sad but true |

The last quote is not good. It seems like he's in a bit of a delusion.
Degenerative bac problems don't just "get better". It's in the name. Degenerative. No one can "fix" his issue.

A similar injury killed the career of my childhood hero Don Mattingly. He ended up getting his discs fused.
Its a hard decision. But in the end I think he hangs it up and gets the surgery. Its a choice between being bed ridden in pain and watching your kids grow up from the window, or being able to go out with them.

Chase Utley has dengerative knees and is still an effective player. I guess it depends on the location and severity too. From what he says, that he can't stand, get out of the car, sleep, etc. without pain, it sounds like he's in a really bad spot. |
