Reason and logic are integral for the untouchable definition as it is commonly used which is what I was getting at. But, not matter how you define it, Crosby is definitely the MOST untouchable. - NickTheKid87
Exactly right. Most fans realize what is meant by labeling a player untouchable. |

I tried talking on the Penguins fan base about moving Malkin a year or two ago. I argued that they could trade the NHL's best insurance policy for something like Weiss, Markstrom, Huberdeau, Trocheck, Gudbrandson, and some good picks. The reasons behind it made it seem valid, more or less.
Most people on there blasted me, saying how it would be a horrible trade and all, and the #1 reason they had was that, "No one of those players is as good as Malkin," and, while true, they didn't grasp that the sum of the pieces, and the holes they would/could fill, could more than offset Malkin.
But when it comes to Crosby, he's (currently) irreplaceable. There is no player in the NHL that the Pittsburgh Penguins could replace Crosby with. The package may be worth it, but the Penguins cannot replace what Sidney Crosby means to the team and fan base. |

If Couturier and Simmonds aren't untouchable based on what's been rumored to be turned down. Then Voracek is about as untouchable as Carter and Richards were. |

I actually liked him as an analyst. I saw him do a BC/Union game and he spent about 55 minutes talking about Gostisbehere, 3-4 minutes about Gaudreau, and then analyzed the game when he had a few spare seconds. |

I'd trade Voracek for Voracek and #8 overall. |

Lol. That would have been a pretty bad trade in hindsight. I agree with you though. The Pens could trade Malkin and have one of the deepest teams in the league |

Especially considering he almost single-handedly saved the franchise from relocation (with the help of Lemieux) when he was drafted in 2005. If they don't win that lottery (conspiracy blah blah blah), there is a pretty decent chance that there's no team in Pittsburgh right now.

I think that's a pretty adequate deduction. We should be able to literally and completely hash this out by page 43. - jmatchett383

Well, yes, it's pretty crazy that none of those players panned out (minus Weiss and Trochek). But still, my point was that, you have the best center in the game, so why not move your 1B center and get a number of pieces to fill in the gaps your team has had? Granted, he won the Conn Smythe 6 seasons ago, but do you realize the Penguins haven't won a game past the second round in 6 seasons despite being picked as a Top Contender several times? |

Huberdeau is still young. I think he's got plenty left in the tank to become a #1 center. |

Could be. But his production has gone down since his rookie year. He's still young, but he has yet to blossom like I thought he would. But, put him in Crosby's wing, and he'd probably be a top-25 goal scorer right now. |

CHL guys, are there any defensemen named "Shea" playing in the WHL that are draft eligible this season? If so, the Flyers may want to pick one up. |

I know. I agree with you. You win with depth in the current NHL. People still think you win with 2 good scoring lines, checking line and plugs. Theyre also pretty soft physically and mentally. If they can't play their up and down game in the playoffs they get flustered. |

In his defense, he's got nothing around him. I think Huberdeau eventually becomes a 30-40 guy or even better but the state of that team offensively is putrid. |

I think the Ducks have a prospect in the WHL named Shea Theodore. He's a finesse guy though |
