His game can be summed up quite simply.

listen, Kane's a nice player, but he's a 20g, 50pt guy. He's scored 30g once and hasn't shown that he can play consistently at that level, and his attitude seems to suck.
yuo're safe with him though, because your gm is paralyzed with fear and won't make a trade..ever. - Isles_since_6
Kane on Tavares line would be magical. The guy is a big physical body, is consistently one of the top forwards for shots of goal and has improved his defensive game. He may have an attitude problem but a lot of that is blown out of proportion by the winnipeg media. If I had an elite top center like Tavares I'd move the pieces required to get a guy like Kane, who will not only increase your top offensive line but also add grit and a guy to stand up for your other star forwards. |

We're good for centres. We have Little, Schiefele, Perrault, Lowry and Slater.
Could use some goal scoring wingers and D.
All this is pretty much moot though, unless its a crazy offer. - RFawkes
Those guys are all third line centers at best. |

I could see Peg wanting a center but I don't think the Habs are dealing pleks, Eller, or chucky. That leaves DD and I don't think anyone wants him. If it's a Habs D it's Emelin and I don't know why the Jets would want another D.
Difficult to see a fit right now. But the Habs have been reported by many dif sites in the past as having interest in Kane. One thing is for sure, Habs have a lot of cash in D right now and need a scoring winger. |

no thanks. You're describing Kane's potential. What I see is a guy who can't stay healthy and hasn't come anywhere near another 30 goal season, and who I don't see as more than a 50 pt guy. Nice player, but hardly a key to anything.

Actually I described facts about his playing and not describing his potential. He's had one 30 goal season, since then he's had a consistent shortened lockout season and a yes one weak season last year where he only scored 19 goals whilst missing roughly 20 games. He does seem to be "injury prone" but you can't blame a knee on knee from his own team mate and a hand infection last year to label him as if he's made of glass. The kid is the right kind of grit the Islanders could use on the top line. He's consistently at the top of the nhl roster for shots on goal, he puts up big hits, he fights and he has currently been one of the best defensive forwards on the jets roster this year. I can understand skepticism about a player who hasn't lived up to their full projected potential, but when you have one of the best play makers in the NHL setting you up with all the shots on goal Kane generates, and Kane adding a hefty amount of grit in the offensive zone. The Islanders don't have that top Left wing yet. Sure there are lots of players with that potential but not one player on the current Islanders roster has had a 30 goal season aside from Tavares once and Kulemin once. |
