We know what he can do with top 6 players.
22g, 27a, 49 points, +14. 7 goals on the PP. - bloatedmosquito
I would take that |

Does not matter. They are generational players. I would pay an arm and a leg to get them. - bloatedmosquito
I would probably take Seabiscuit, as the amount of wear and tear has been much less than the other players noted (his style is perhaps not as 'hard nosed' as the others in the list). Chara, unfortunately, has started to show signs of slowing down a little, and therefore I would be very weary of throwing the bank at him.
Still, as you noted, hard not to take a good look at trying to obtain one of these generational talents - especially on Defense. |

Can you even name, on one hand, a similar combination of size, strength, skill, and nastyness in terms of any other defenseman in the league?
Chara
Weber
Doughty (just simply all around too good not to include)
Burns
Subban (a 50/50 entry)
Giordano (another 50/50 entry)
Hedman
Seabiscuit? - Zogg
Buff is a jackass but I would have him on my team in a second.
I like them all, but Giordano is the guy I really like. That contract is ridiculous. |

Funny how far he has actually come - from having to go play in Sweissville because he couldn't land any sort of decent contract, to now being one of the top 'D' in the league (and at a fantastic cap hit as you noted - although he's going to get a fairly massive raise in 2016 - can Calgary keep him? can they afford NOT to keep him?. There are going to be a lot of suitors regardless, along with some tough decisions) |

The teams offense is on fire.
I think I've been fine with everyone...would like to see some advance stats on Hansen, but I like his game now and will like it more come playoffs. Love the fact that Higgins and Burrows are delivering again. Glad to see all lines delivering and am excited to see what happens with a more stable 4 lines.
Still worried about the D...but think a top six with Weber and Stanton would be better than Sbisa. |

Sbisa has a good shot , fights, good speed and is getting better.
I would offer Sami 850 k and send Weber down |

Why send Weber down, Salo will get injured signing the contract. For a guy that has talked about the age of this team why would you want Salo back? |

Salo is a better D than Weber even if he was in a wheelchair.
I also wanted Willie Mitchell back who is old and has 2 cups in the last 3 year. The difference is I don't want them back as a top 6 forward or top 4 Dman |

Have you seen him play lately? his last game was Apr.18th and he's 40 years old. He was slow when he was here in 2011. |

I Remember when Willie was here in game 7 against Chicago he was slow too and we ran him out of town. Again Salo would be a 6/7 D not 1/2 |

I don't think Hansen is enough for WD to trust Horvat. - A_SteamingLombardi
He isn't. That's the problem. Horvat will be just fine given the opportunity but if he is sent down in favour of a guy like Hansen that could spell trouble. It took Dorsett, Matthias, Hansen and even Kassian almost 17 games to get 4 pts. Bo needs more time and he will get there. He looked great vs the big Cali clubs and can bring that game vs STL-CHI-MIN and even Dallas to an extent. we need his defensive play and faceoff prowess regardless of points right now. Yes we are getting players back from injury but there will be more so sending Bo down just to have a crack at WJC Gold is idiocy.
I sure hope Vantel is right and Bo is going nowhere. Would be a BIG mistake.
If we have to live with Hansen losing every puck battle now, falling down 12 times/game, no finish or hardcore checking like before we may as well keep Bo up for when the injuries get REALLY serious...and they will.
And remember...we are tied for first overall WITH Horvat in the lineup. |

Having Horvat fill in for injured players is a waste of a year of eligibility and terrible asset management. There are a dozen players in Utica that can come and go without clearing waivers. |

From HF
So with Horvat looking quite good in stepping into a bottom 6 centre for some parts of this year so far and hopfully stepping into a fulltime position next year along with Shink, Gaunce, Jensen maybe even Vrtanen, Cassels and Mccan pushing for a spot
Just had to share this. I know we give each other grief for pencilling in prospects but this is just full-on bipolar Tuesday stuff |

That don't make sense.... Would be better to stick him back in the minors then eventually back in the Ahl where he can develop into a bust like most of our previous high-hopes prospects
- I-own_da-Northwest
If they are just going to play him sparingly ,then send him back. WD played him more in the first two games, but when things got tight he benched him. |

I believe the more he proves himself, the more time he'll get. But it is what it is, he won't ever be dominant in scoring, but will only get stronger defensively. Great players develop by playing against the best. Top 10 picks develop into career 4th liners by developing for to long in the minors. We all forget the days of Kesler playing 7-8 minutes a night on the 3rd/4th lines and the Sedins playing 9-10 on the 3rd line. It's growing pains. I don't expect Horvat to be good till he's 22 or 23, but I slowly expect him to get better if he stays up in the show. |
