The trouble isn't that Umberger isn't scoring, it's that he's been ineffective all around. He's seeing fairly easy usage, but when he's on ice, the Flyers are getting outshot and outchanced. He hasn't been exceptionally good defensively. He's been awful, really. - Jsaquella
The discipline though. He's not taking a lot of penalties. |

Yup, he's brought absolutely nothing to the table so far. |

Based on his last few months in Columbus, the preseason and currently, it seems he is washed up. Of course Hexy is going to stand by his decision to acquire him for Hartnell and Chief isn't going to publicly rip him...shame he has two more years left on his deal that the Flyers are stuck with. Talk about dead weight |

Carchidi would be better suited working for TMZ methinks. |

Vinny and him have been connected at the hip... both players would probably improve instantly if they were split up. But then they'd be dragging down other lines... |

Carchidi's job should be one in which he asks, "would you like fries with that?"
Panaccio: "for here or to go?"
Seravalli: "Please pull through"

Even when Umberger was on the Couturier line, his zone starts remained less restrictive than the other two. |

I still have a suspicion -- although the Flyers and Umberger insist he's healthy and have said so ever since the trade was made in late June-- that there is some sort of physical issue. The Columbus Dispatch reported after the playoffs that Umberger was playing through a herniated disc, separated shoulder and broken finger.
With Umberger, it's clearly not a lack of effort. So for a player who has been a five-time 20 goal scorer to go that far downhill between ages 30 and 32, I can't help but wonder if he's being hindered physically by something and just doesn't want make excuses.
I have no way of proving that, of course. Umberger himself says he feels fine physically. The Flyers say he's healthy, too.

I like them together. It frees up 3 lines. They might as well just throw Rinaldo on that line too and just pray they don't get scored on |

I think it's just the wear and tear of those injuries. They may have healed but it doesn't mean they don't bother him. I don't think he'll ever be 'healthy' |
