So Hartnell blames Berube.
http://www.theflyersfeed....n-a-member-of-the-flyers/
sorry if Leight - MBFlyerfan
Good for Hartnell for speaking out. The comments made by both Hextall and Berube were so ridiculously transparent. They were transparent yesterday, they were transparent today and they were transparent last summer. You'd have to be a complete moron to defend this nonsense. As a fan and a professional, I'd want the truth. As a man I'd want the truth. They're no doing anyone any favourites by downplaying their decisions. |

Does it really serve any purpose for Hartnell to put that out publicly? Would it serve any purpose for Berube or Hextall to criticize the player publicly, and talk about why they wanted to move him? I think we all know why anyway, or at least can speculate on it.

Scott Hartnell signed a deal committing himself to the team. He wanted to be here and he was rejected. Whatever motivates him to win tomorrow, good for him. He had to pack up and move, they didn't. Berube did criticize Hartnell last summer and yesterday through the magic of I don't know what, they're friends? |

GMs rarely, if ever, speak the truth. It's the nature of the business. It would be kinda funny if they did though:
Hextall on Hartnell: Couldn't wait to get him and his ridiculous contract out of here, guy couldn't even bother coming to camp in shape. Would have preferred to just get a pick for him, but Columbus insisted we take the corpse known as Umberger too.
Hextall on VLC: Hell I even tried trading him to the KHL, but Putin forbade it. Frank you Homer for saddling me with this lovely deal.
Hextall on L Schenn: Am I disappointed?? Homer moved a legit 1st line LW for a guy who is 7th on our D depth chart. No, I'm just friggin tickled pink.
Hextall on Berube: Well he's an ok coach...for now. I'll bring in someone better when I think we can actually contend.
Hextall on the local media: Wouldn't be so bad if I could only talk to Meltzer. JFC, the rest of these idiots couldn't tell a hockey puck from a cantaloupe! |

It'll help if the Flyers haven't got used to days off. We've all seen bad starts after extended periods of no games.
Hartnell's probably in town already and taking some of the boys out tonight. Sly bastard. - tangent_man
This is a guy who paid for the ice time out of pocket during the lockout so everyone could practice together. |

You know that just because you sign a contract, doesn't mean that you're guaranteed not to be traded. It's a business.

Are you kidding??? Clarke was notorious for saying that they had absolutely no intention of making a trade and then, 10 minutes later, a deal would be announced. Clarke would sometimes let his emotions out, but, like all GMs, he kept most stuff to himself and had no qualms lying to the media. |

Did Clarke ever lie about his dislike for Eric Lindros? It's one thing to not be open about possible trade scenarios to throw off rival bitters, it's another for our coach and GM to say we're all friends here and then the player to comes out and say they're lying less then 24 hours later. |

And that's great. He's a decent guy who looks out for his teammates. For he's a jolly good fellow.
Did he not waive his NTC to go to Columbus when he was told he wasn't in the future plans? He saw the writing on the wall and, while it might have hurt, he moved on. Now there's bad feelings being aired out, and that's cool. It's his first time back in Philly; I expected some kind of interview to expose that.
It's the game inside the game inside the game. His team's in a rut and maybe they can rally around him. It's just bulletin board material at this point.

Clearly he hasn't moved on.
From my standpoint, it was an awful deal. It was an awful deal from day one.
Speaking for myself I have no problem calling a Richard a Richard. |

They asked him to waive it. What happens after is up to both sides. If Hartnell wants to voice how he feels, he doesn't owe it to Berube not to. |

I'm aware of what happened. I think you're more upset about the trade then Hartnell is.

Well, I guess we'll never know. What we do know is, he's pretty upset with Craig Berube. |
