To Ek's credit, he does pose a lot of rumors that create a lot of legit discussion, but I think the Flyers part of this one is a stretch to say the least. Maybe other teams have interest and I'm sure they do but I can't see the Flyers making a move unless the Kings make an offer they can't refuse. - NickTheKid87
Well they could throw in Doughty!

If Umberger would be ought out Ricahrds moves to wing.
Simmonds - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Couturier - Read
Richards - Laughton - Raffl
I don't think it is true either just saying it would seem to aline the lineup better then with Vinny. - J35Bacher
I just don't see Richards happening. |

No Richards is signed through 2019-20 and Umberger through 2016-17. Richards' cap hit is $5.75m and Umberger's is $4.6m. Richards is better but not enough so to justify the cap hit and length of his deal, IMO. |

I'm not suggesting the Flyers are in on Richards; there is no reason for them to be, but I would be hard pressed not to think Lombardi got on the phone with Hextall to gauge his interest. - KGBflyers10
That's how the rumors get started. Sources get wind of prelimnary conversations just kicking the tires. And boom, the Flyers have interest in Richards. |

Carchidi was asked by a reader on twitter if the Flyers should trade for Richards - Jsaquella

It's possible, but looking at the last game, there's a couple plays that stood out.
First, there was a play for a loose puck that would have been a close race in the first period. Umberger pulled up and the Colorado skater took control.
The second was the icing in the third. Umberger just stopped skating two or three strides from the redline and fired it in.
Maybe he is hurt and shying away from contact. Maybe the injuries from last season have him a bit gunshy. Either way, he's been really ineffective and Berube isn't handling him like a guy nursing an injury. - Jsaquella
he also got female dogslapped by talbot on the half wall and then directly fed the puck to tanguay for a short side blast to make it 4-3. mason sucks, too. |

A bit off topic here....but did anyone get a chance to listen to Stern the other day when Bernie was on? I didn't know that Bernie was such a ladies man...from his own mouth, he said that he had a big Richard and he slept with 5 ladies at once.
I didn't know this, but Bernie had a serious case of "man-boobitus". He recently saw a well known plastic surgeon to rid himself of the "extra weight".
I'll tell ya one thing though...I can only take his accent in small doses. Ughhh - Fast_Eddie_1
i listened. it wasn't a very good interview, imo, although the ending was a little more natural once the doc came on.
bernie's got rep for being a ladies' man...nothing new there.

There's no way Richards comes back here. It's too weird.
Plus, they do not need another center.
Let's not forget that the Flyers don't have cap space to even handle Richards' contract. Richards for VLC? HAHAHA - KGBflyers10
Vinny after this season - 3 years at $4.5 million.
Richards after this season - 5 years at $5.75 million.
There's no chance in hell the Flyers are going to trade for Mike Richards. |

You know that MacDonald's top pairing minutes have been going to Grossmann, who has been getting killed in possession numbers, right?
http://www.behindthenet.c...+30+32+33+34+45+46+63+67#
I guess the author has never heard of Corsi Rel QoC. Unsurprisingly the three Flyers defensemen with 5+ games played who have positive Corsi-On are the three who face the weakest competition. - Feanor
Grossmann may not drive possession, but he's very effective in the defensive zone in terms of punishing opposing forecheckers, clearing crease and making good basic plays to get the puck up the ice. |

I understand that it freed up two years of cap space for younger guys who will require raises and extensions, but right now, it looks like the Flyers/Hexy got fleeced in this deal. Columbus was going to use a compliance buyout on him anyway, so why not trade Hartnell for a pick? - aantny88
Yes, I can't seem to reconcile how most people knew RJ was on the outs in CBJ and was a buyout candidate, yet the Flyers trade their 1st line LW for him.

Regarding the third period period where Talbot got the puck away from Umberger and then fed it to Tanguay for a goal, Chief said yesterday, "He wasn't knocked off the ice. He just lost it on the wall."
I don't really see how that's any better. - bmeltzer
This is what bugs me about Berube...he'll make excuse after excuse for a declining/aging guy like Umberger, who has played poorly and makes numerous big mistakes, but a young player with upside like Akeson is given a leash as short as a pit bull in a neo-natal unit. |

I think he is using tough love to motivate Akeson, and with RJ they (Beroob and Hextall) are trying to give him some confidence at this point.
I am not always in agreement with how the coach doles out ice time, but I think I can see what they are doing with these two players. |

Yeah, well he was a fit on OUR 1st line anyway (Raffl's play there notwithstanding). |
