Hall's 80 points last year was a fluke.
And he is injury prone.
Trade him for Enroth. - Oilers4Life14
Shut up JB. I was going to give you credit to for sticking it in the leafs thread, but you just ruined it. |

Remember "should have picked Jeff Skinner"?
Remember "should have picked Jonathan Huberdeau"?
The two I like now are
"should have traded up for Seth Jones" and "should have traded up for Aaron Ekblad". It's so simple! |

I haven't even heard enroth's name much. I assumed that when they dealt miller, it was because they believed in jonas - hugefemale dog77

havent heard the seth jones one much. but ive seen that ekblad one creepin in here and there already.
do you think that people actually WANT to be ignorant and narrow minded because it's an easier path?
im totally being serious.
I know for sure that misery loves company and people enjoy failure more than a good success story, so theres that I guess... |

Actually, the one I've heard most about Seth Jones is the utterly moronic "should have picked Jones instead of Yakupov", forgetting that they were in two different drafts!
I've literally heard this 3 times on HB. I wish HB had a user tagging system so I could be notified when I'm speaking to the idiots who spew stuff like that. |

sad to say im not the least bit surprised.
really takes the "oilers should be drafting defencemen" myth to a whole other level.
not only was nurse not enough, now we should be trading firsts to drafts the next year and make sure we get the spot where we're able to take the next available franchise dman.
and I thought mact's job was already tough enough.... |

Sometimes, but not always, you hear people simultaneously decry the oilers depth at centre and in the same post claim that we should have taken Landy - a real competitor - over Nuge - weak and soft. Yeah, that's right, build around two LWs.
The only intelligible way to play draft what-ifs is to do them as duos.
Hall-Nuge
OR
Hall-Huberdeau
OR
Seguin-Landeskog
OR
Seguin-Nuge
OR
Seguin-Huberdeau
OR
Seguin-Larsson
That's essentially what it was: Hall or Seguin in 2010, and Nuge or Larsson in 2011, followed by Huberdeau and Landeskog right on their heels.
I find it incredibly unlikely (and we'd have escaped with no less scorn) if we'd drafted Hall + a dman or Hall + a winger. In other words, we were getting out of those two drafts with at least one centre.
So looking at those options, it's clear that Hall-Nuge and Seguin-Landeskog are FAR ahead of the other outcomes (maybe Seguin-Nuge is closer than others), and I'd argue it comes down to personal preference with those outcomes. |
