(frank) I wish, That Berkeley thing sounds awesome though! - Oilfan19
Yeah, I'm trying not to get too excited, but the idea of moving to San Fran is pretty boss, especially given the temp here in Edmonton at the moment!!! |

Sometimes, but not always, you hear people simultaneously decry the oilers depth at centre and in the same post claim that we should have taken Landy - a real competitor - over Nuge - weak and soft. Yeah, that's right, build around two LWs.
The only intelligible way to play draft what-ifs is to do them as duos.
Hall-Nuge
OR
Hall-Huberdeau
OR
Seguin-Landeskog
OR
Seguin-Nuge
OR
Seguin-Huberdeau
OR
Seguin-Larsson
That's essentially what it was: Hall or Seguin in 2010, and Nuge or Larsson in 2011, followed by Huberdeau and Landeskog right on their heels.
I find it incredibly unlikely (and we'd have escaped with no less scorn) if we'd drafted Hall + a dman or Hall + a winger. In other words, we were getting out of those two drafts with at least one centre.
So looking at those options, it's clear that Hall-Nuge and Seguin-Landeskog are FAR ahead of the other outcomes, and I'd argue it comes down to personal preference with those outcomes. - Morris
Hemsky, Eberle and a 2nd for Seguin.. we could have done it at that draft |

I've heard that repeated a lot on here, but is there a reputable source for that? |

Seguin and Nuge this one could be argued... The Hall and Landeskog one could be argued as well as the Seguin Landeskog... The dmen for those drafts at the time for 1st overall - wont know about them for another 5 ish years... Actually with the fwds we still wont know until another 2 or so years- its just wait and see how things pan out- that is if there are many of these high end picks remaining still on this team by then... to evaluate if we chose right |

how are you beating it?
anderson > reimer
methot > gardiner
including a 2nd rd pick next season doesn't offset the fact that you're giving up 2 inferior players. - sensarmy_11
Even if that was accurate the value difference isn't that much and since Methot is already at his prime and a pending UFA the trade value is better from the Leafs deal, which was my point all along.
Not saying that either deals gets in Eberle, although his value has taken a dive for some reason in the last couple years (likely his over value is levelling out, I once believed Eberle to be worth close to hall or RNH. |

At the time tho- that was alot... Today- with the results we have to date- would have been a good deal for the Oilers...
How about Hemsky- 15 games in with new team- healthy scratch last night we should have traded him for something... Tambo really (frank) us on that scenario... |
