he would easily be second pairing.. and 3 million is more than fair for a solid UFA status d-man - Dozzer

Did you see when Karlsson charged Pouliot last night?? That was pretty funny - Oilers4Life14
didn't watch the game..........western games when you're on the east coast start far too late (especially when you're up at 5 to get to work)
i do imagine that seeing karlsson charge anyone would be somewhat comical though............although he has thrown quite a few big hits this year (somewhat out of character) |

Very much so. Is Cody Franson being used in the top-4? I haven't seen him play very much, but he is paid more than Petry.
I know last year Franson seemed to be more of a PP specialist and used as a 5/6 dman. |

Everyone except Phaneuf? Reilly has played very well, so they could interchange. |

why? are they going to win the cup in the next year or two? - Lucas Neilson
i don't think they're going to win the cup, but the team needs to start putting a winning product on the ice. losing year in and year out is just bad for everyone involved. |

Franson is playing with Dion this year. The minutes are being spread well though (For instance, against Boston, Polak played most, then Gardiner and then Dion). |

Solid goaltending would be a world of a difference for the results. Cup champs? No. Playoff spot? It'll be a great battle to watch. |

I was bitter when Cloutier left but had to give a hometown boy a read and gotta say I've become a fan....
On to pressing needs; Remember in preseason when a Markstrom was snuck through waivers???? It would have been a free roll of the dice and a good kick in the crotch of a divisional rival to steal the main piece that came in the Luongo deal.... I assume the hierarchy were to distracted polishing their bling from 30 years ago(the last time they accomplished anything in the NHL) - Gaumond
I couldn't believe no team took a chance on claiming Markstrom still. I know he's had his struggles but he was considered the best goalie prospect bar none. Goalies are tough to predict. Realistically I know we need to deal Reimer at some point, the guy is too competitive to want a back-up role. Price for his calibre of goalie is really not high at all, I just really want the Leafs to recoup a 2nd round pick we don't have this year, but I am not sure if anyone would bite on that - is it too much, not enough, etc. I agree dealing a somewhat important piece in Petry/Perron doesn't make sense and only makes the team worse. |

Nice! He was a toss-up when that trade happened.
Petry is highly underrated. |

It was probably highlight of the night
Well other than Petry's goal. What a pass by Nuge.
Check out the highlights when you get the chance. Probably the most exciting game this season |

As is Petry. So, Petry, being cheaper than Franson, and playing the same, how does that make Petry so terrible? |

Because if they do not start einning the damn team is going to fild because they are losing all their "fans" - Oilers4Life14
so you would sell off a bright future for a couple first maybe second round exits?

I was saying for over a year that he'd be a guy I'd target. Most people think that he's slow and ungainly, but he skates very well, and was always top couple in the fastest skater drills for St Louis.
He's what we wanted from Gleason, without being absolutely glacial on skates |

It wasn't much of a charge, Pouliot was just stirring the pot. They had a good battle and Pouliot was just getting under his skin.
Pouliot did push him away with a glove to the face move though. It was enjoyable to watch for both sides as Pouliot got the penalty and Karlsson was very dangerous on that PP. |

Petry is very underrated however. Being in Edmonton I see a lot of him, and he's usually quite dependable |
